[SPOILERS-PBEM15] Mansa Musa of the Ottomans

How unlucky is that?!

Just wait until copper pops up on exactly that hill lol

Yeah, its crap. My short-term plans will be ok without it. Can still manage Size 4 and 2 Warriors in T22, 2nd Worker in T25 and 1st settler in T28. Regrowth will be more slowly and my next worker/settler pair will be delayed 1 turn.

On the plus side, I will found my 2nd city one turn earlier, because I will have a road to the eastern Plains Hill by then. And I will save some worker turns by means of that road, so the gold city will be up and running a little bit faster.

So - new worker plans :

T14,15 : build a road 1N of Ankh

T16 : move to western PH

T17-21 : slowbuild a mine on PH (chop in T21, into the second warrior, 10H overflow into worker, 2 or 3 wasted -.-)

T22 : move to eastern PH

T23,24 : build a road

T25 : second worker due, both can start slowbuilding mine on PH this turn (1 turn earlier)

T27 : chop in (into settler), 2-pop-whip settler, overflow into granary. 1 Worker starts pasture (everything 1 Turn earlier)

T28 : other worker starts cottage at Ankh, settler moves 3 tiles north

T29 : Morpork founded (1T earlier), pasture due

Finilaized the deal with T-I from HRE :

Quote:Hi Piet,

Apologies for the late reply here. I've finally had a chance to sit down and
look at the current situation.

Firstly, to confirm the exact position of my capital, it is in fact 4N3E
of that tile -- 3N4E of the pigs tile. That makes the distance between our
capitals the same; 12 tiles. (I've just realised that I can *just* make
out your borders SE of the peak tile).

I agree with your initial division of the land -- anything between the
5th-7th row of tiles is neutral territory, with one exception. There is
nowhere directly south I would want to settle apart from 5S of my capital;
just east of that lake tile. I won't want to settle this straight away --
I certainly won't be rushing to the site -- but if I can eventually claim
that spot, we have a deal.

If you agree to this, I am happy to sign an NAP until Turn 60. Would that
be acceptable for you?

All best,
Mark

Quote:Hi Mark,

I am ok with that spot you want to settle. So we have a deal there.

- NAP to T60
- 5th - 7th row between our caps is neutral territory
- exception : your city 5S of your capital

Sounds really good to me.

In addition I would like an agreement about espionage. My Plan is to spend EP on you until I have graph visibility, then switch my espionage to another player. Is it ok for you to do the same ?

Greetings from Ankh-Morpork,

Piet

Sounds really good. That spot is of no interest for me and quite vital to him, so no problem here.

A question :

I will be in Stockholm next weekend and not be able to play from Friday to Sunday.

What is the usual procedure ?
Is the game paused for these days or should I get an interim player to play my turns (Spaceman as dedlurker comes to my mind here) ?

I'm happy to play your turns - just give me detailed instructions and warn people diplomacy might be limited for that period... :-)

Allright, I will do this - thank you :-)

T15 in, not much happened.

All other civs are Size 2 now, we are lagging a bit behind because of having to connect seafood.

Ankh will grow T16, workboat will be finished T17 and connect the Clams T18.
T17, also Bronzeworking will be due. Some important turns ahead.

Will do a map/demo shot again next turn.

Encountered an interesting feature of the map btw - the peak row left of the northern wheat and the gold site extends a good way to N/NW, maybe splitting the land. Heres a close-up :

Will turn around with the warrior by now and scout south of this mountain chain.

T16 in :

The map

Warrior moved back to scout south of the peaks. Worker moved to Plains Hill to start slowbuilding a mine next turn. Ankh works Wheat & (unimproved) Clams for max growth - WB due next turn.

Ioan (land) & T-I (tech - mining) gained score.

Demos :

Jkaen grew to size 3, I suppose hes the one with 12 Food.

T17 played.

BW in, switched to slavery (yay spiritual lol), started AH (due in 6T).

Checked my map for the copper I was sure it would be there - to no avail huh. At least this should mean no one has copper in his BFC. I have still to scout the immediate W / SW / (SE) of Ankh, so copper may still be found somewhere near my Cap.

Ankh finishes the workboat, clams will be finaly improved next turn. Warrior started. Worker starts slowbuilding the mine on the PH.

Hoping for Horses now - and IW becomes more and more a priority here. Tech path looks like AH > Pottery > Mysticism > IW now.

The map (not changed much) :

Some observations and (probably inaccurate) speculations :

Ioan has switched tiles or research (GNP raises by 3 compared to last turn).
2 warriors built this turn (1 was build last turn)

T-I has switched to a 1-Preq-tech (researched mining last turn, new tech could be BW / Pottery / HBR / Writing / Medi / Poly). I would guess BW or Meditation (Buddhism not yet fallen).

TT has finished research this turn - should be Mysticism.

My GNP is really good atm - due to working clams & researching 1 Preq-tech with neighbour-bonus. Ioan gets 8 Culture more / Turn so his 27 doesnt mean much techwise.

Foodwise I will catch up to 11 next turn when the fishing boats are finished. Thats great (and more important than GNP atm ;-)).

Allright, new detailled plan until T29 (City 2 founded).

Tech path : AH > Pottery > Mysticism (Myst due T30, T31 if I run binary research and 100% Gold on T30)

City of Ankh :

T18 : Size 2, building Warrior, working Wheat, Clams
T19 : Size 3, building Warrior, working Wheat, Clams, PH
T20 : Size 3, building Warrior, working Wheat, Clams, Riverside Grassland
T21 : Size 3, Warrior finished -> Warrior, working Wheat, Clams, PH mine, chop in EOT.
T22 : Size 4, Warrior finished -> Worker (exactly 10 Hammers overflow jive), working Wheat, Clams, PH mine, 3 F/H-tile
T23 : as T22
T24 : as T22
T25 : Worker finished -> Settler, Tiles as T22
T26 : as T25, chop in EOT.
T27 : Whip settler -> Size 2, working Wheat, Clams
T28 : Size 2, Settler finished -> Granary, working Wheat, PH mine
T29 : As T28 (switches back to clams T30 btw.)

Worker 1 :
T18-21 : slowbuilds Mine
T22 : > SE,NE (onto other PH)
T23-24 : Road
T25-26 : chop eastern PH (together w. W2)
T27 : > E
T27-29 : Build Pasture

Worker 2 :

T25 : built, moves N,NE to eastern PH, chops 1 Turn
T26 : > N
T26-27 : build Road
T28 : back to PH, mine 1 T
T29 : > SW,W, start cottage

Settler 1 :

T28 : built, moves along the road to Gold site
T29 : Morpork found, works just-finished pasture

(BTW, is this stuff even interesting for anyone but me lol ? I think I am a little overdoing the MM in this report)
