Land would be a serious and meritorious reason, I think.

A relationship forged in the bond of alcohol and hedonism deserves the official sanction of the state of Louisiana and should not be unduly postponed by some arbitrary 72-hour time limit.

Sigh. Fortunately, it looks like everyone else is stuck with the same limited type of yields.

To the west, we have a sheepy peninsula. I hope there's some fish to the north. Frankly, I hope there's fish everywhere (POKER THEME ALERT).
The most interesting news of the turn is the discovery of this gold, river, 4-legged animal resource, flood plain area. Looks similar to the one back home. Hmmmmmmmmmm. We might make contact soon.

Three others hooked up a 2nd food resource:
Average CY of 44 implies 12-12-12-9 or 12-12-11-9. 14 total f/h is not as good as the 15 at least 2 other people are getting, but certainly better than the 12 at the tail end. Maybe someone got an untimely forest growth.
This area is much better than my area. See bit about blaming map makers. No contact yet, lots of scary animals.
We found whale in an inconvenient spot.
We found love in a hopeless place.

Not much to report. BW comes in after next turn, hoping for a capital location. Demos continue to be ugg-tastic on account of doing the start.
I don't think it's worth doing a micro post based on how it got to this point, I think it would just be me lamenting an unfortunate pairing of techs with the food situation I have. Going forward, though, worker is heading to a forest to pre-chop for a WB and then to pasture the pigs for the second city. At least I'll get the trade connection with the two cities, but if everyone is somewhat mirrored like flug and I are, that's not a unique advantage.

Not quite the capital, but still relatively convenient. Second city is going to have a lot of good early tiles to work.

Mild respectability back with the settled city, first to it also (21k x 3 + 6k x 1). I imagine there will be some settles this turn, as flug is already in Slavery.

How have I missed all of this awesomeness??? I think celebrated is the meekest sort of accolade-infused adjective New Orleans would bestow for my accomplishments in the Big Easy. For example, anyone can walk into a police station falling down and reeking of booze, but not just anyone walks back out the same door they came in.
About the 72 hour rule: My reading on that is that you have to prove yourself worthy of being married in New Orleans by having a premarital counseling session that goes the full 72 hours and is based on the prodigious amount of quality liquor your liver would have to endure to keep you and your betrothed on your feet and carousing the streets for the full 72 hours. Marriage is an endurance test. The 72 hours is meant to simulate that, just add good booze, trannies, strippers, casinos, voodoo magic, and some great fucking seafood.
Feel free to send this on to the NO Chamber of Commerce.
