[54 Spoilers] Nothing to see here! Miguelito and Rusten's max score game

I don't think we need CS unless I'm forgetting something. You can tech optics first if you feel we need it, ideally we want astronomy with liberalism anyway so it doesn't slow it down. Unless you want Nationalism and Taj, in which case CS first is best, but I think my preference is paper (start on UoS) --> optics --> edu-lib (with a GS into education if we can make it). It's the safest way to play the game -- we avoid some nasty naval surprises.

I should be around for most of the night.

We have planned quite a few CS farms, that's what it's needed for besides the prereq. 3 people have it already.

Edit: gotta fit in calendar somewhere as well

I suppose we have 2-prereqs to CS too, so yeah, it's probably better to tech it before paper.

  • we should be able to burn Orinoco flow, but it seems like a distraction. If we throw everything against Memory he can pull the Orinoco defenders there, but then we fight them without the fortify bonus. The only argument in favour would be to catch the pike without its promo, but that's not enough for me
  • 7 HAs to take care of: a) in Chichén we'll have 2 fortified axes and an unfortified CG2 LB... get 2 more cataphracts there? b) he could push towards Frumentarii / Akritai / Riparii. We have the spears, the catapults (which I'd move 1S),.... + 3 (4?) cataphracts? c) he can reach Cursus Publicus even if we move to NE of it. It has the fortified Axe. I'd move the Mjmd def cataphract there to at least make it cost him some.
  • If he wants to go on rampage he can move his one movers to the cow NE of Chichén. We would then have to burn/take Memory to be able to attack the stack. But that should be doable, actually? Problem is unpredictable culture.
  • Mayapan is safe for the turn. I was pleasantly surprised that we had taken over the first ring
I still think everything minus the mentioned defense goes NE of Cursus. I think it would be ok to attack Memory without siege. Your thoughts? By my count that would be 24 phracts, 5 axes, 1 chariot, 1 supermedic chariot, 2 scouts (soaking collateral). I don't think he'd be able to get odds? Maybe this would be the time to sandbox, but I'll do the dishes first.

Why can't I build a watermill there? The river to the left should be free? If I really want the WM, would it work if I farmed over one of the others, then watermilled this tile, and then rebuilt the other?

I've answered your watermill question here: Watermills

The quick answer is the game checks all four directions and if there is any watermill in one of those directions you can't build a watermill on the tile. The direction of the artwork doesn't matter. This also means you've setup the maximum amount of watermills on that river.

Yes, I agree with this.

Looks like pillaging 1E of Chichen itsn't necessary so you can save the units for other things, because we can see the 2 workers already and his 1-movers are not in range anyway.
Send 3-4 cataphracts on the stone up north to take May It Be? They should be safe there. He'll probably whip a pike though. Depends on how much you feel you need them for Memory.

His units are terrible for defending cities so we should be good here.

edit: looks like he doesn't have a road on the 1 dangerous tile we can't see too. thumbsup

No, it means that the order in which you build the watermills matter. The one next to Akrital could be rebuilt afterwards because the floodplain south of it is free.

I made a cheat sheet for naufragar in PB45 or whenever it was.

If you start with blue and work yourself down you can have a watermill on every tile, but if you for instance start with red you might block blue.
