Yep! I'll 2-whip the axe on the turn before sailing and chop the rice on the turn I get sailing. The chariot will be completed with natural production at Utrecht the turn I get sailing. Sailing + 1 the chariot will move down along roads, load the galley along with the axe -> galley moves out. Power will see a nice increase that turn, but the graphs won't show the bump yet. If TBS is watching known tech bonuses he'll see me complete sailing, but will he anticipate an immediate loaded galley? Hopefully not!

Any updates? Hard to track the turn pace but I figure we’re somewhere in your planned window now...

Everything is right on schedule. Sailing was completed EOT31 along with the axe whip at Amsterdam, overflow + chop completed Galley while Utrecht completed a chariot. This turn T33 the Galley was is loaded with chariot/axe pair and moved 2SW of Amsterdam. I changed the staging tile 2SW of Amsterdam because I think it is more likely for TBS to poke a unit towards the center and stumble across the galley than onto the two coastal forests north of his city. Also if he does spot it that is a more natural tile for bringing a settler to either island.

I declare war and land next turn. Fingers crossed for an empty city!

As you can see in the tech thread, I misclicked after the turn roll ... and TBS’s city was lightly defended so my misclick captured the city smoke so no screenshot for you all yet, I’ll have to (try to) get one when I log back in to actually play the turn. There is a single warrior on defense. I landed both the axe and chariot. I don’t know which unit captured the city, logged out immediately and reloaded.

TBS abandoned the city and I razed last turn, plundering 30 gold. I debated keeping but decided against because ultimately I would expend too many resources to hold an expensive city. My goal was to establish firmer control over the inland sea which I believe has been accomplished. This turn I advanced, to plunder the cottage and pig pastures next turn. That will be the extent of my attack vs. TBS for now. Pillaging the pig will make the replacement city a slower starter. And my galley is occupied now with ferrying a settler for an island city to get IC trade routes ASAP.

First island city will be founded T39 as indicated by the sign, with WB also netting fish the same turn. TBS had a settler already poking towards the center which is now retreating. Carthage power started spiking prior to mine and I see now via PBSpy that there is conflict on TBS's other border as Mr. Cairo razed a city. I have not yet met Mr. Cairo but I have met and located everyone else so I already knew they were neighbors.

What’s the general plan/priorities for cities in the middle, on the outside of the wheel, and on any other islands?

In general, an island city is top priority for IC trade route commerce. I was planning for the marked 1-tile island, but I found another fish 1NE of the workboat in the latest screenshot. I'm now reconsidering and will likely redirect the settler there. Even though it's founded a turn later it has many advantages: a crabs 1st ring, can share fish with Rotterdam, can improve/share the island copper with Rotterdam ... and my strike vs. Carthage takes the pressure off the timeframe to settle those 1-tile islands.

Next priority is reaching for luxuries in the center. I have tons of food to grow, and 3 luxuries will really boost the overall empire. A barb city popped just east of the field of view for the latest screenshot. I want at minimum to raze to deny to a rival, but hopefully keep (I haven't taken a long look at it yet, I just found it a turn or two ago with my scouts last report before getting whacked by a barb warrior).

Another high priority is settling the previously-mentioned site west of The Hague which gets 5!!! first-ring resources, including fish + pigs. That is a monster of a site and I would rank that priority equal to setting for the luxuries. I do not plan on reaching further down the outside of the wheel either to my south or east. I value comfortable borders given my buildering PHI/IND combo. I can make due with a little less land while still productively growing and researching deeper down the tech tree. I would rather Scooter feel more pressure from AT to his east (already conflict there), and I want TBS to feel more pressure from Mr. Cairo along his eastern border. Instead of pressuring down the outside of the wheel, I'll stake a stronger claim to the center and support it with naval dominance.

Metal Casting is scheduled for 10 turns. With triremes I'll blockade any port that TBS puts down on the inland sea to my south, and will consider blockading anything of his on the southern inland sea. I want to try befriending Mr. Cairo and setting up a long-term 2v1 against TBS.

banghead banghead banghead  Lost a worker to barbs:

For the last player in Pitboss, the end turn button glows red even when there are units left to move. I had a worker next to the barb warrior which hadn't moved yet, but missed it when looking through the empire. There goes 60 foodhammers and potential improvements up in smoke  pimp
