Alexander 5
“The wind went mute and the trees in the forest stood still. It was time for the last tale.”
"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow.
In this game that's going to help us because he's going to go to the negotiating table with twitchy eyes and slightly too wide a grin and terrify the neighbors into favorable border agreements, one-sided tech deals and staggered NAPs."-Old Harry. PB48.
Sorry WK, colors were freaking me out
![]() Pre-spoilers: *Lead - military leader of the Macedonians *Genius - some of his battles are still used as case studies today *King - was a rule *Fighter - famous as military commander *War - ditto *Conductor - 'conducted' his army and conducted military operations *Queen - general royalty connection given this is a 5-clue hail-mary I'm leaning towards King, War, Genius, Fighter, Lead. Those could work with other clues - Napoleon or Genghis for instance but I don't know that Alexander is any worse than those options so maybe no need to make it complicated? I'm hoping though one of my colleagues can link to a Greece/Greece-in-Civ connection to make the choice more direct though.
Post-spoilers, Bob and I are tracking together and props for connecting the clue to Centaur. Bob and I differ on Lead. WK and I are also tracking together and have the same five words but WK has Fighter as weakest while I'd put Lead there. SD hasn't given a full list but is only quibbling with Genius (which FWIW I think is very strong) from WK's list. So...
Point to King Point to War I feel very good about pointing to Genius next unless SD wants to talk me out of it. Alexander's early death to me does not overshadow his far more lasting legacy as a conqueror of the known world. I am very unsure of which two to point at between Fighter, Lead, and Centaur. Centaur is a slam dunk if we're confident that the Greek connection matters, but I'm not 100% it does (Napoleon for instance ties in Queen much more strongly; Genghis though would seem to hit King, War, Genius, Fighter, and Lead perfectly without a confounding word to my eyes, so that's a point in favor of Centaur. If Centaur is in though I don't know which word to cut. To me Fighter is a more direct 'conqueror' tie in because the violent aspect is more explicit, but at the same time if asking if Alexander was a better/more famous leader or a better/more famous fighter one would have to say the former, right?
King and War both red.
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.
I write RPG adventures, and blog about it, check it out.
Id say swap Centaur for Fighter. With Fighter being given as our +1 if we whiff
