Charriu, I don't remember is this a known bug? Fin advisor is showing I should only be losing -6gpt but I'm losing 7. I remember only losing -5gpt on T45 so when I was doing report stuck out.

Somebody reported this to me and I hope to find the reason and a fix for the next version

Mjmd, we had something similar in 62, and it seems to be the unit cost that's being reported wrong in the summary (but correct in hover).

You get my T52 settle song now. Letting video do the history. I really didn't like the lyrics of this song for a long time until I saw this video. The tune was catchy, but it didn't really click. And now I like it. You can find other more musical versions, but listen it's random history. ![]() I'm in full blown expand mode. 2 settlers and a worker. Whipping T50, 51, & 52 respectively. Dead Horse gets to help share food so isn't as bad for working good tiles as it may seem. I could have settled two cities T52, but decided T52 and T53 as I decided to put 3 more turns into a FP farm for Rose rather than road the hill for the city. I start farming the wet corn T53 either way. I did change my micro a little and had capital take wheat for two turns while building settler to get more hammers into its granary, which gets its next settler out 1 turn earlier. I have pottery pre T50 which is sadly unusual for me, but means I can finally start making use of Charismatic soon with grans up. Ginger beat me to 4th city by two turns!!! I was confused by the spot until I realized it was an actual desert tile. Demos. Note after capital whip, so it is accurate. ![]() Just got graphs on SD specifically for you folks. As suspected he was our low food for a while, but sadly it paid off. Really wish Pin could have held capital, but hopefully SD's other neighbors recognize. You'll note I'm leaning towards nice spots towards Ginger / not settling a spot specially to maybe do something against SD. Shall see how things develop. And yes I'm showing food because its the only one I'm consistently high on.
1st off actual game stuff. Cornflakes very clearly not playing. Is Fable getting War Chariot rushed? Hopefully not successfully.
Anyhow, wanted to expand on the AH vs BW starts I posted in the mod thread. I think this game is a great example of those decision. I obviously skipped hunting to go AH first to be able to improve my capital pig vs both Bing and Ginger who went early BW. I've been boastful of my good food, but in reality a lot of it is just the fact I had my AH resources hooked up early. Ginger settled his 4th and 5th cities two turns before me, but has chopped something like 7 forests and I believe was working copper and I think slow built workers and settlers therefore doesn't have as many warriors or other stuff. I'm honestly still impressed (and annoyed a green neighbor is actually strong). This is vs me just now chopping my 2nd forest, but that one is going into a granary (1st did go into a settler). Now Bing who didn't start with any food techs looks to be somewhat behind. I don't have vision of his capital forests as much as I got with my early scout incursion vs Ginger, so I don't know if its lack of chopping or just didn't start with a food tech. Anyways, he just in the couple turns got his cows facing me up, so delayed AH clearly hurt. So lets say the 2 turns isn't too big of a deal between me and Ginger the AH start vs BW start is basically the same speed. + I've gotten to be more worker efficient and saved forests for projects like Oracle. - look at my scouting! I have 3 scouts and I basically know nothing because I've been using them as a screen. Also, obviously been two civs for possible KTBs.
I have been meaning to calculate the AH vs BW starts in this game for my peace of mind. Too lazy so far though. My intuition is that since the pig at your capital are on a hill that BW is just better. The cattle(?) at the copper site would be inconvenient though.
The pig hill was certainly inconvenient for worker movement (partially due to location and other hills), but being able to road helped with the efficiency there. I do like that at least for Bing and I the food at the copper site was AH based (still don't like that they were pointed at each other). Again it make it so that going BW first isn't free and obviously the best thing to do. On the other hand because of the FP if you did go BW first its still a fine city, it isn't dependent on just a single food resource.

More Sean Dagher. Some of you may have noticed the names "John and Jack" get thrown around a lot as generic names in songs. As far as female names the most common is Sally Brown. The line that always gets me is "she lovely cause she loves me that's all I need to know boys". There is a touch of love is blind, but also I always think of the sailors separated from their loved ones for years. As mentioned 2 turns behind Ginger to 4 & 5 cities. In addition to the mining vs AH start, the other difference is the fish. But ya I have a lot of forests left for various stuff. You can see a chop finished this turn into a gran at capital. A 2nd worker is coming to help farm the banana. While with new micro I don't need the precise food anymore, I do still want to save turns in order to get a cottage down sooner for turn after it grows to 5. Also means farm up at bloody rose is done sooner. I also figured out I'm not working the gold for a second, first whipping gran at 3, then will do another worker, then grow to 3 and my one test that far out had mine finishing turn it grew to 3 or turn after (don't remember). I'm kind of just spot doing micro at the moment where I solve one problem at a time as it comes up. For instance I didn't know if I was going to do a worker or settler in new city until this turn. Part of it depended where the chop from the NW was going to go. Looks like its going to Bloody Rose, which was my assumption. Anyways Bloody Rose can get a settler there much sooner, plus Sally Brown needs a worker to improve itself. The math for either works evenly (4t*5fh=20h + 8fh * either 5 or 10 worker or settler dependent). ![]() I was originally trying to get myst out soon as possible for Dead Horse, but it looks like the gran actually finishes very well growth 3 to 4 (literally finishes half food box), so I have to do a quick test if long term which way ends up with more food. Finishing Myst also just sends a signal I'm going for a religion, which people should know, but good to reinforce. Sadly it looks like Pin was south of SD with copper pointed at, which sadly makes sense with rush succeeding. It doesn't look like Pins copper was FP like Bing, SD, and myself (and somewhat Ginger). Anyways, going to try to figure out how big that middle island is, not that I think its smart to contest.

PB59 song This is a random stuff post. ![]() In internal micro I thought the monument vs gran decision at Dead Horse would favor gran, but it was actually was a blowout in favor in of the monument (T79 basically a full pop better, but 3T slower on worker). Sadly that required a whip out of the capital since I started the spear before I knew the fish was there (or I could waste the hammers that I had put into the spear). I've been feeling my lack of power so I didn't want to stop the spear. Plus the 3 extra worker turns isn't nothing. I'm not sure what the "fair" tiles are for silver, gems, and gold. For the most part I'm just glad I didn't get desert silver vs my opponents desert golds (pb60). Ginger just finished his grassland silver though so I'm feeling slightly meh. I think maybe grassland hill for silver and have gold be on tundra instead? The extra worker turns are very real, but in my one long term sim I made it work. Speaking of which, after this post its worker movement micro time. My current sim goes through next turn....... One of the map requests was not to have pre defined areas, which this map kind of fails at honestly. However, as I chose a civ that is meant for a larger map (again my fault) this has mostly worked in my favor. The bridge west has 4 food resources for SD though vs my 2. Now mind I get 1st ring wet corn, so earlier mine is better. Anyways, it 100% makes sense for SD to have built Stonehenge. I 100% hate the location. I had 100% planned on trying to quickly snag the "phah nope" spot. With SD getting Pins cap I figured I should push. However, SH there means he will 3rd ring take that hill super fast. Therefore I think its correct to either strand the fish or force him settle on the rice (/ leave for me later / take from him). I still want kind of early to get culture going. Its possible he just won't care enough if his economy is struggling. Edit: this still won't be until after priesthood at the earliest. I debated about going priesthood right after med, but I think its still correct to get sailing after. No whips for a second, so I think I can turn on tech T59 for 3 full turns and 1 partial. I've never gotten Buddhism so I'm a little nervous. Speaking of growing, all 3 initial cities will have grans next turn, which should help quite a bit. |
