although I'm sure I would benefit from Sandover's experience, I doubt he'd want to work with/mentor me as my username starts with a lower-case letter .. I recall his rant early on in his PBEM3 thread

I'm a little stretched with PBEM9 right now and can't commit myself to playing a second full game, but would like to serve as a dedicated lurker if there is still a vacancy for that.

I was thinking about maybe being a dedicated lurker in this one... I'd like a bit more experience with following the games as they happen (and a bit higher post count) before I actually try to play one!

gingereagle and Malaki don't feel they would work well as a team...
Tredje would be okay with a partner but Sandover hasn't said anything specifically.

The best bet would be for Tredje or Sandover to team together or with gingereagle or Malaki. That would get the game down to 6 sides and things could progress. But i'm unsure who wants to team with whom.

I would prefer to get this one sorted with teams then open another as i have no real desire to play solo in one yet. Plus as Whosit has said, it would be "Interesting" for us to work together.

That reminds me- My timezone is GMT+8, which pretty much restricts who I can play alongside with to people in the far eastern and western hemispheres. I guess that rules out working with both gingereagle and Malakai, who are both GMT+0. Sorry about that.

For what its worth, I'm happy to team up and get this one going, I haven't done a whole lot of team play recently and its always good to have a little spirited discussion about Civ, but if there's a need for a full spot in another game I'm willing to do that too. I'm doing a whole lot of nothing with my free time these days.

I personally do not think that a lurker having different timezones to the person their lurking would be much of a problem, different story altogether if your talking about a team partner, but even then there is advantages of a team mate on a different time zone, it means your team is more flexible about when it can play its turn.

I would be more than happy for Sylon or Magil to be my dedicated lurker, if I am completely honest I would prefer not to have a partner or if I do for my partner to allow me to handle diplomacy as well as most major decisions, so that doesn't really make me a good team candidate lol.

Therefore a lurker seems the better option, someone i can perhaps discuss ideas with and bounce ideas around with, and maybe someone who I would also be able to learn from as well.

Also there is always the chance that the lurker might be able to play the occasional turn for you if needed (if they were up for that) but they would not "take over".
