But as your message was littered with expressions of hope, his initial reaction to the invasion was somewhat muted.

His Illustrious Majesty [I think you get the gist] wishes me to advise you that The Shakirite Empire has been very fortunate in that we have been relatively unmolested by the local wildlife, indeed your Warrior was the first sign of humanity we have encountered. But he is sure the others you mention will find their way into his Empire, whether they find him as compliant remains to be seen.

On the matter of football, His Illustrious Majesty [I really can't be bothered now] is a life-long devotee of The Eagles that play at The Palace of Crystal. Indeed, he wishes to make known his pleasure at seeing the great Dutch player, Edgar Davids, briefly come out of retirement to wear their colours. [one could say he was Glad All Over, but that didn't come from me]

His Illustrious Majesty [... yawn] hopes peace will remain between our peoples for a long time to come, but does not require any binding pact at this present time, if you were thinking of offering one.

As a token of friendship, please accept the enclosed picture of the great Edgar.

We are willing to trade with you the locations of other nations known to us in exchange for some map information you can give us. Since we of Totaal Voetbal are, of course (since we are Dutch), a nation of traders.

Regrettably, our Quechua, although fierce warriors, are somewhat illiterate and rantings along the lines of "there be dragons" make their childish scribblings utterly meaningless. Hopefully the schools recently initiated by His Illustrious Majesty [yada yada yada] will reap the intended benefit in the near future. However, if we could have some vague direction in which to point our brave Quechuas, His Illustrious Majesty [yada yada yada] would be eternally grateful.

Returning to the subject of football, His Illustrious Majesty [yada yada yada] would be pleased to send a team, once they have had reasonable training. Due to a lack of necessary resources, would you recommend Wolf or Bear skulls, or should we sacrifice the next visitor and use their head instead?

P.S. I have miraculously grown an inch in height since my last missive, as His Illustrious Majesty [yada yada yada] noticed I forgot to use the correct salutations, and missed a couple of capitalisations. Let's hope I don't lose a full foot in height this time. I did mention His quick temper, right? Thankfully He doesn't know what "yada yada yada" means ... yet!!

OK, after the diplo-shenanigans, time to say ... turn 30 played!

First, the demos:



Not bad, should improve the Crop Yield figure (and ranking) once the Terrace is built in SheWolf ... in fact, I could switch to the unimproved Sheep tile next turn, this'll get the Terrace and the city to size 2 at about the same time!

Had to split the map into 2 pieces:





Smeg(!) ... just noticed that I could've lined them up better, cropped the bottom off the top one (and vice versa) and stitched them together

Anyway ... Pleb01 has made an interesting discovery, despite not following orders and over-shooting his target , Sheep up near the proposed site for "BackInBlack" (next city) ... this may change my plans, especially if there's something juicy up there!!

Good thing I've delayed the next Settler by building a Barracks in WakaWakaShaka .. it's a quick(ish) build and we may achieve size 5 at the same time it gets built ... or, worst case scenario, part way into the Settler, so we have scope to

Hmm ... where's that Warrior sneaking off too? Weird naming system chosen by Nakor & Gaspar; Dutch players' names (e.g. Bergkamp) for their cities and Dutch club names (e.g. Feyenoord) for their units, surely that should've been the other way around () Those Dutch are crazy, for sure

Hopefully I've not made too much of a pig's ear on the turn-playing & role-playing/diplomacy parts ... just realised I may have to 'demote' myself from "Lord Protector" as that title more befits you () and maybe take the title of "Ambassador"

OK ... now the turn

This time, the map is in 3 parts:

Firstly, we have discovered water to the North-West ... and somewhere called "Crazy" (according to the Foreign Advisor, by process of eliminating Nakor/Gaspar, this must be Whovus [Whosit & Ravus Sol] but I should've guessed from the name if I refer back to the set-up posts) I will think of a suitable First Contact email as he will have no idea I'm there ... yet!!



Think I'll cordially advise that I will be settling on the tile between the Fish and Sheep, i.e. where Pleb01 is standing (& Healing up) ... when I asked for something juicy to be in the fog, I didn't expect this

We've also found water to the South-East:



No settlement noted here, and this is going to make me re-think the city sites to the South as well as the North Ideally, I'd move "LaTortua" 1 tile South-East, but, as I'm always going to lose the Wheat to nab the Crabs, 1 tile further South of that, i.e. beside those lovely crustaceans, will be better .. there may be something equally juicy in the fog down there

This aggressive settling will mean the need for 2 Settlers in quick succession, good thing I forced out the Barracks by switching from the Oasis to an unimproved Sugar tile



the loss of Commerce for 1 turn is worth it, I think. Also Shaggy02 has been stopped from going to the Copper, so he can chop towards the next Settler, Shaggy01 will road up the Gems (2 turns) and then will also chop, another tile, his Hammers going into the 4th settler overall!

On a sad note, Shabba04 was unfortunate in his encounter with the Bear ... I knew Sod's Law would catch up with me sometime Oh well, as Settlers need to be thrashed out, no time to dwell on his passing.

Ooh ... the Terrace also completed in SheWolf this turn. I will check on growth & switch back to the unimproved Sheep if necessary.

Because of these events, the demos are a mixed bag:



The loss of Shabba04 seems to have been more than compensated by the Barracks completion.
