Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

If we are planning to Praet rush, that means they are now only one tech away from maces (and now have bureau powered teching speed).

Nothing we can do about that unfortunately.

Given Rome is IMP, IMO it's much better for Rome to spam settlers and use Preats to defend rather then try and rush. Even when they get maces, Preats will still have decent odds on the defense against them (not that I expect a attack from Ghandi sunrise anyway).

Agreed, better for you to expand rapidly without fear of retribution.

So, Team 2 researched Theology last turn. Not sure that's what I would have researched at this point. If AP was enabled maybe, but with it off, well I'll just call it an interesting choice.

Probably going for Hagia Sophia to super-charge their early expansion. A more powerful wonder on a medieval start due to the quicker speed at which you can get it. As the only team with an industrious civ they can land it fairly cheaply, and if they have marble around it only gets cheaper.

Still, Team 2 going for Theology means they're delaying machinery and everything else behind it. Since we border them we might have a military opportunity once we get Guilds.

Two things to note from Team 1's most recent turn. First, they researched machinery so are now caught up to us in tech.

Second and perhaps more interesting, they produced a GS (I know it is them because the event log reads GS born in 1020 AD and they are the only team to have ended turn in 1020 AD when I checked). Any idea on what they plan to do with it? My best bet would be an academy to speed up researching guilds, but that is just a guess. They could also use it to bulb edu (and thus assure themselves of lib). Interesting to say the least.

I think they might bulb Philo actually. It's needed for Lib and also gives them another religion.

Somewhat more worryingly is that it only took them 6 turns to get Machinery. I know we haven't focused on tech that much, but I'm surprised that they could get their tech rate that high so quickly.

Well at least both GP are accounted for. Also have 3 cities that can be followed via C&D, if anyone particularly wants to. Explorer will probably die next turn but if not I'll try and find something else worth looking for.

Team 2 discovered Machinery this turn (t113).
