I will say I don't really understand why Dazed keeps pouring units into my land despite the fact that I'm clearly in last place by a long ways. Surely it'd be more useful to mess up the guy who might get Praets soon?

Quick update. We've been a bit slow as several of us had travelling going on, but it should pick up again soon. Anyways, I've fallen way too far behind. The thing is, I'm pretty sure Dazed may be racing me for the Pyramids. The reason is he's invested now close to 6 units into choking me - every time I kill a unit he builds more to send at me. It's made it impossible for me to keep stuff like copper hooked up because it's closer to him than it is me, which means I have to rely entirely on dogs, which means his chariots are invincible unless I can attack them (they only get the bonus on defense). He also rushed into an early Organized Religion, which is half-Industrious. This made me suspicious, but as I watch him invest into choking the guy who is dead last by a long ways instead of his only two competitors, well it pretty much screams that he wants to race me for Pyramids. Honestly, he'll probably win. I've chopped a few forests, but I've done a couple outside my BFC because my closes ones have been choked by him. Good news is I'm about to settle a Priest which will help a tiny bit, but not THAT much. So we'll see what happens. If I don't get Pyramids, I'll probably just cobble together some military and go out with a bang because I'm SO far behind economically that I can't really compete.
I'm a little bummed, but I knew this was a possibility. My opening was recoverable, but not if I'm getting choked pretty hard. It's one thing to get choked by stray units, but Dazed is going out of his way to get me. It's a smart play by him IF he's building Pyramids, otherwise it's a stupid play. I know Dazed isn't stupid, so it's not hard to put 2 and 2 together.
Oh, and just my luck... We've had 4 religions spawn so far. Of course, Krill and Dazed got two apiece AND they both spawned in their second cities... So I share borders with 2 double-holy cities. Unreal.

Cyneheard marches up with a stack of Praets. Game over. I can cobble together some units, but that's it.

I know I'm biased, but I do think Cyneheard invading me is major . A quick look at the demos would show I am hopelessly behind and not a big threat to him. Dazed has badly choked me for a long, long time and that's basically removed me from the competition when combined with my slow start. Him attacking me when cities must be razed doesn't help him at all. I mean cmon, he had a double-holy city next to him owned by the player with a big lead in the demos who I believe is probably building the Pyramids. So he's expending military to hurt the one guy who he's beating when he can't even keep the city?? That seems crazy. Much smarter would be eliminating someone who is actually a threat. Sending that stack at Dazed could have made Krill his only real competition. Really bad meta choice IMO. More bad for me than him, but it seems like a golden opportunity wasted.

That sucks, man.
Yeah, should be interesting to see Cyneheards reasoning.
I have to run.

I fully knew that my weird opening was kinda asking for this, so I don't feel TOO bad, but I still do maintain that Cyneheard's decision was not great. A proper rush of Dazed could really push him and Krill into the lead with two stragglers (or one straggler and a dead guy).
In retrospect, perhaps I should've gone with a more normal opening. Too bad though - I just got my settled great prophet and Maths.

Because my game is now over, I'm just going to try to be as much of a pain as possible to Cyneheard. All I can do is ensure that he regrets attacking me. Anyways, I can get 1 Dog/turn until his Praets show up easily. I have chops, whips, and great prophet boosted production + mines so I can do it for eternity. And since they're resourceless, not like he can disconnect copper - I haven't had copper connected in like 15T hah.
From idle chatting, it sure looks like Dazed is building Pyramids. When I'm done, it may already be a 2 horse race. I think Dazed has played this opening the smartest. Cyneheard is rushing me for reasons that are a mystery to me. Krill rushed out to all 3 cities and probably can't tech. He's also wasting his first great person slot on an artist bomb (well ok, he hasn't actually done it yet, but he said he was going to) with I think is VERY short-sighted. Dazed on the other hand rushed to OR for half-IND, then proceeded to choke the one competition he had for Pyramids. Pyramids will give him the edge he needs to keep up with Philosophical. If he's smart, he'll settle every one of his great people and grow vertical and tech like mad.

I know this may be me being overly optimistic, but considering the nutty maintenance on this map what's the odds on just turtling up and trying to tech ahead of another player?

Not really plausible unfortunately - I can get like 12bpt and even just one or two rep scientists from Dazed goes way past that. Short of it is everyone's teching way faster than me. Plus, I whipped so hard that my mini city was unhappy at size 3 at one point despite having a military garrison. Oh yeah, and I'm Chm. This is definitely the earliest I'd ever seen +4 unhappy.
And then Krill went and culture bombed stealing a bunch of my tiles. Yep, my game in a nutshell.
