Virtually every network device will accept the IPv4 address 127.0.0.1 as an internal loopback interface. Helpfully, many (most?) operating systems also include a hosts file reference pointing 127.0.0.1 to the name localhost. So you could try logging into the pitboss server at 127.0.0.1 or localhost and it should work, as long as everything else is set up correctly.
I can't imagine you'd have a firewall issue connecting the game client to the pitboss server on the same machine, but if for some reason it isn't working that would be my next guess.
