Re: concessions - there's no way we should come out and offer them for gems city. Now, if they see us settle it, suddenly come to life and seem pretty angry, a reasonable way to placate them is to offer them something like a short-term resource deal - maybe a 10-20T spice gift or something like that. That wouldn't be necessary, but we can always use that as a gesture to keep us from losing a potential friend. That'll be a judgment call if/when we get to that (probably will never happen) - it'll depend on a lot of things.

To spell it out clearly - I'm in theory OK with temporary "concessions" as a way of asking forgiveness (even if we did nothing wrong), but I'm not OK with using "concessions" to bargain for the site.

Just curious - we are waiting on responses from all 3 teams we've met, right? Still nothing from German team or WPC, and CFC wrote us last... when, exactly? Trying to make sure that we aren't the ones being tardy here. Maybe we should even start chasing up CFC with a followup message of some kind (?)

CFC: Last message was sent by us 4 days ago. We're not waiting on anything terribly important, the only thing we really asked is if the layout we showed them matches what their guesses are. We also waited 5 days to respond to them previously (though I notified Caledorn during that time that I was specfically waiting on the German team, so they were aware we were purposely waiting). Little slow, but I don't even think 2 full turns have passed since then, so it's not bad.

German Team: Last full message was sent by us 5 days ago, with a second courtesy message on their Quechua 4 days ago. They're just slow apparently.

WPC: Last full message was sent by us 4 days ago. They sent back that very quick/short message almost immediately, and I've been assuming that was a precursor to a real response. Er, guess not? I may just try again with them soon.

So yes, other teams being slow pretty much.

Probably just paranoia here, but do you see all this as slowness or potentially something else? Wondering if CFC is working the diplomatic angle to cut us out of any potential alliance bloc

Slowness mainly IMO. 4-5 day gaps between messages have happened several times so far, I think people are just noticing it more now that we've met 3 people and they all are slow at responding at the same time. Also, half of the "gap" between the messages also occurred on the weekend when this stuff always slows down. If any of the responses were on important, current matters I'd be a little more bothered, but none of this stuff is really crucial or time-sensitive.

CFC has not met the Germans yet, last time I checked. So unless they relay communications via WPC, I doubt this is all a sign of something fishy going on. In fact, I would think, that if CFC or somebody else is trying to form some sort of alliance against us already, they would make sure, we don't get suspicious by waiting for messages from all teams.

Indeed team CFC was very helpful and I have thanked them for it. Sorry for the inconvenience due the botched e-mail address.

Game has been quite good indeed. Our brave people have killed some animals, built some nice (but rather smelly) houses, multiplied like rabbits and even slayed some dirty barbarians. We have written many songs about the glorious adventures of our noble warriors.

How about the daily lives of your most esteemed people?

We have located the German team. They are almost perfectly west from us.
The other teams we have contact are you and CFC, indeed.
Our fearless scouts continue to explore this world we inhabit and share to find other nations and expand our understanding.

It's a very role-play-ish email. I'll draft something up this weekend, and I'll aim for a similar style. In general though, I don't think we really need to ever rush to respond to them. Anything to keep discussions light so they don't start asking about NAPs.

By the way, if someone wants to do some creative writing and draft something more in line with this style (role-play-like - saying a lot while saying nothing at all), then go for it, and we can consider using that.

Oh one note - Tatu appears to be Japanese, not Finnish as someone guessed. I see it since this is his personal Google account and it has some very minor personal info. I don't think this will matter a great deal, but I thought I would make a note of it anyways.

Beta was the Templar team captain, although I don't think he did much during the game. conmcb25 was the one who refused to open the Templar forum after the game was over, and deleted every single one of his posts related to the Apolyton game after it was finished. Classy. Godking was involved in much of their diplomacy with Imperio. I don't remember Proviisori doing much, but he was on their team roster. Just thank heavens that Aidun isn't involved with this game.





I *REALLY* hope that the opportunities comes up to use these again.
