That's hardly an argument in favor of everything being OK. If they were planning to attack us, it would probably be either based on directions provided by CFC, or because they saw our borders and pulled back because they had these evil plans.

I don't think we're the target but I would certainly enjoy ruling it out completely.

38000 in units isn't that much at this stage in the game. It's 5 dogs and some garrison units, and if there is one unit that dogs fear, it's WCs. Remember - they don't know we don't have access to horses yet.

I think it's much more likely that they're doing a Fierce à la PBEM 23.

We need to watch it, of course, and set our EPs on WPC until we have their graph, but I'm not worried.

Hold on a second.

WPC said they'd met the Germans and CFC, both of which know where we're situated. Also didn't we ask CFC to direct WPC to us earlier on so we could meet them? I'd be very careful of WPC in the upcoming 20 or so turns and would want a sentry between us if at all possible.

I think this is a good observation. WPC are a civ we've identified as being likely to make bad decisions for their long term success. I wouldn't be surprised to see them try what they'd think is an early rush against us, especially if there's some ex-Templars on the team who may hold a grudge.

Sorry, got a little thrown off by how the forum displays names in replies/quotes.

I also don't think we are a target for We Play Civ. War chariots are the worst matchup possible for dog soldiers, and they have no way of knowing that we lack horses. But I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to ask for a short (20-30 turn) NAP, just to be on the safe side. We obviously have zero intention of doing anything aggressive right now, it would make us look friendly/peaceful, and if they turned it down, that would also be very useful information to have. I don't see any real downside to asking.

Hm. I'd like to hear more on if you guys want to go the NAP route or not. I'd still lean slightly towards trying to avoid a NAP here, but maybe it's worth being prudent here. I just wonder if we could essentially achieve a NAP by sentrying with the spear which would see any units coming from a mile away. Any other opinions on NAP vs no NAP?

Sentry with the spear is not a short term option, I feel, as we lack scout units and home defenders right now.

That said, I don't think we will see WPC attack us. Pure gut feeling, of course.
Maybe with the recent uncovering of the German border, we could tell them something along the lines:
"Woah! Those Germans are really close to you!"

They might not be aware of that recent (?)city placement that close to their capital (8-10 tiles away!). Might focus their attention on the Germans.

Agree with m_h here. Give us until T75 or so and we should be in a far stronger position - and they can't reach us until then anyway.

I think Lewwyn's diplomatic ideas were sound - do some RP on our merchants looking forward to trade in and move within their lands (OB), if they are averse to military units moving within their borders (no-scouting clause) et c.
