[SPOILERS] Ioan's first attempt to Civ6 world

PBEM 4 used an open diplomacy thread where players could make deals and negotiate in full view of everyone else. Once war broke out it devolved into a "there's [x] units located to the west of your city" type stuff. There hasn't been one since. It seems that open diplo in a PBEM is like completely randomized starts - seems like a good idea until you try it and then everyone remembers why we don't do that.

As for the ad hoc diplomacy, the two that I know of that see frequent use in Civ VI are:

- gold for gold: no ill intentions
- iron for iron: has been used to signal impending war, sometimes with the number being traded indicative of a countdown. Of course, that doesn't always specify the target.

Fish for fish was used in a recent Civ IV PBEM (forget which one) and I forget its meaning. Don't know if that meta would overlap here as the player base doesn't overlap much.
Sending units to their death since 2017.

Don't do what I did: PBEM 3 - Arabia , PBEM 6 - Australia This worked well enough: PBEM 10 - Aztecs Gamus Interruptus: PBEM 14 - Indonesia
Gathering Storm Meanderings: PBEM 15 - Gorgo You Say Pítati, I Say Potato: PBEM 17 - Nubia The Last of the Summer Wine: PBEM 18 - Eleanor/England
Rhymin' Simon: PBEM 20 - Indonesia (Team w/ China)

A little good news: I managed to complete my second Campus - this time a "Superb" one:

... so, at least for the moment, I jump to first place in Science-production.

On the bad side - this is my front line against Persian forces. Not necessary bad but Archiduke had such a big jump in military score that I'm wondering how long I'll resist in case of an attack. frown

This is an overview of my empire in T82. I'll post latter ( if anybody is interested ) some screenshots with particular cities...

I know you have to wait 10 turns, but will you try to make peace with theArchduke?

Yes - but he was faster proposing it to me.

Now, how long this it last at minimum? 10 turns?

I think using pins for diplomacy is against the rules.

Yes, using pins for diplomacy is not within the spirit of the community rules.

OK, let's check what really matter on strategic level right now:

I know that numbers could be misleading and pure math didn't means to much but, as an idea:

Now, my initial idea on my ill-started attack was to try to get something from Persia. But this way probably Nubia/Thrawn would be the easy winner of our game... so let's them fight.

So let's have a look on status of what is left to be my next concern:

Regarding my southern/SE border, I have a question: is important in Civ6 to have costal cities? I mean... I know that this is a "nice-to-have" addition but I'm pondering if it worth to sacrifice the hill-location to settle on coast with my next settler. Any idea/suggestion would be highly appreciated![Image: ZLIe92b.jpg]

OK, removed it.

I am curious, I see diplomatic notifications in the lower right corner of your map screen shots, and I am also seeing screen shots of your diplomacy window, so you went in there.   Are the notification just old, and need to be cleared?   Like the one for the friendship ending?
