Turn 22 - 2680BC
[ beginning to feel like I'm talking to myself ... again]
OK ... PaulH "Throm'Ka" has ventured into the unknown to see what he can of Kyyan's lands before he's killed. Hopefully he can make it far enough to find Commodore and ...
ooh ...
... was going to add Ceiliazul, but he's pre-empted that ... hello Pog. Good thing there's nothing vital on that side of the city so he can't stand on anything to ruin my figures. Which, btw, are on a knife-edge:
Turn 22: Settler - 12 overflow from Worker + 13 [10F+3H] = 25/65
Turn 23: Settler - +13H = 38/65
Turn 24: Settler - +13H = 51/65 [add chop now, SteveC!]
Turn 25: Settler - +13H = 64/65 [now, SteveC, FFS now!!]
That chop will mean a 1 turn Warrior, with growth to size 5, on turn 26. From turn 27, I'll gimp growth and rack up the commerce and hammers by working the other Lake, instead of the wet Rice, plus the Mined Plains Hill [common Lady Luck, gimme Gold! That old million-to-one thingy ] to speed up the Granary and teching Mysticism [maybe the discounts from the starting techs of Celiazul & Dazed will shave a turn off this and/or give a good overflow into Polytheism] May mean I won't need the Silver Mine for a while, but I'll send SteveC to Road/Mine it instead of helping with the Copper. MalcolmA has been set on the Road/Mine plan as detailed earlier. This switch around may even out the demos [to 1st; 1st; 1st]:
On a plus, Dazed's Warrior appears to have retreated from the choke-point.
PBEM12 - Shaka of Inca [6/6*] PBEM18 (Apps) - Augustus of China [4/4*] PBEM31 - Hannibal of Greece [jnt2-4/5*] PBEM72 - Willem of Oranje - Dutch [3/4*] PBEM74A -Catherine of Babylon [4/4][*ended early]

Sorry for not putting that much attention into this game. Anyway, do NOT stop working our food resources. Our bottleneck is food and production, not commerce. Don't bother putting a chop into a warrior, they're not that valuable. Put it into a worker. We need workers. More workers. Always.
And if you grow into unhappiness, then do some 2-pop whips. The nice thing about charismatic it let's you naturally work more tiles even when under whip anger.

Technically the chop was for the Settler, it may just come in on its last turn. The 12 extra hammers could complete a warrior, or go into a Granary or a Worker [guess you'll champion the last ]

So I guess you're also advocating revolting to Slavery on turn 26, the overflow will technically count for 1 turn's production into the 3rd Worker [Dougie Freedman]
However, we can grow Crystal Palace to size 6 before happiness is a problem [size 7 with the Silver hooked up, size 8 with a Monument]
I'd love a religion for Selhurst Park, as it will help the culture-spread. If I was playing this in SP, the AIs of Arabia & Spain would've founded both Buddhism & Hinduism by now; the others are probably thinking the same so there's going to be a rush, I'd like to rack up the tech-rate to win that rush, comfortably.
I'll forward you the last turn.

I can't tell you what the other players are thinking, because I'm spoiled but also because I'm not a mind-reader. But I can absolutely, 100% promise you, they are not thinking that.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

Personally, for CHM, I'd ignore super early religion. After all, what's the point of religion in multiplayer?
1) Culture. CHM wants to get its culture from Monuments.
2) Happiness. CHM gets free happiness and some happiness from Monuments.
3) Gold. Ignore this, GProphets are difficult to obtain.
4) Religion Civics. Ignore this until later.
For this game, I don't want to try any fancy tricks. All I want is a steady rate of expansion, lots of citizens, lots of improved productive tiles, and large productive cities.

So, would getting Stonehenge be better? Still need to tech Mysticism though, after Pottery.

I've not had that much of a problem in SP, usually got the Shrine by turn 50.

But wouldn't the 25% build bonus from OR be useful?

I think we can achieve that, and a religion will help. We've got to get Mysticism, so we might as well plough straight on into one of the religions. Polytheism, rather than Meditation, does fit in with both Hannibal & Greece as both followed many gods. Just a shame we'll get lumbered with Ganesh & Vishnu instead of Ba'al/Cronus and Zeus. I'll let the faith seep naturally along roads/culture, I usually get some luck with this, rather than wasting turns on Missionaries [which cannot be built without Monasteries (req. Meditation) or OR (req, Monotheism)]. Besides, if we get it, our enemies don't ... simples
I'm still keen on a 3rd warrior [Peter Nicholas] after the Settler [there's Pog to shoo away, after all]; we're half-way to size 5 and will get there in 1 turn due to the Food coming in. Then work the Food-neutral 2nd Lake for Commerce or the Food-neg Mined Plains Hill* to beef up the Hammers for either Granary or 3rd Worker [Dougie Freedman].
*Switch to Mined Silver when it's ready

Turn 23 - 2620BC
PaulH edged closer to Kyan's culture - will hope to skim along the southern edge. If there's symmetry in the mountain ranges, he shouldn't have to deviate to get into Commodore's quintrant.
Damn, that unnamed Warrior [Dazed's] has reappeared to stare at the dry Rice choke-point. I think I am justified in building the 3rd Warrior with the Mine/Chop [that is now due in @EOT 24] overflow from the Settler! Then Vince Hilaire can accompany said Settler, hooking up with KennyS, to found Selhurst Park:
This will leave the Crystal Palace undefended for 1 turn, hopefully Pog will not venture closer.
Damn, I really should've been quicker in setting EPs on Celiazul, we're in a 6/0 hole compared to 24/58 over Dazed & 0/14 over Kyan. Have set to spend full EPs on Celiazul for 3 turns to get back to parity, then I'll drip-feed 1 back on Kyan as we'll have Dazed's graphs for some time.
Pottery completed @EOT, Mysticism up next.

Yeah, we'll probably need another warrior. If you think chopping it is best, then so be it.

Yes, we waste 2 hammers, but it also means Slavery is delayed for only 1 turn [turn 27]. Whether the Settler delays moving to wait for PeterN, or he leaves on time with VinceH, will depend on where Pog is, either way we achieve anarchy on the move.
have turn, will look at it later - got food shopping to do.

Turn 24 - 2560BC
That chop came in - Settler 38/65 -> 64/65 - so completes next turn, on schedule ... phew! 3rd Warrior & size 5 on turn 26, revolt to Slavery on turn 27.
Pog's edged closer. definitely will delay the Settler heading off until turn 27 [pic taken @EOT after borders popped!]
