[spoilers] Commodore Milks Nostalsia as Pete of Mede

+17 GPT at 0% can probably support one more city before you need to start thinking about moving on Currency sooner rather than later. Otherwise you'll end up crawling to Currency over a dozen or more turns and that's always a painful slog.

The better solution to low economy is to make more cities working more tiles. Last turn to finish out iron working I swapped to the furs and silver and worked the cottages a bit. 0% rate was 35gpt. I should just keep swimming and REX the heck out of dodge. Iron working unlocks a couple gems, for instance.

So of course here's me going for the cute play.  shakehead

On the plus side, my exposure was very light. Bulb math, chop+overflow, and at turn's end:

I'm going to go for Currency, natch, although I could see arguments for both MC and CoL. I'm addicted to the micro boosting effects of wealth, plus the free money of extra trade routes. Next tech will probably be Sailing to get some island cities going; we're growing again at long last. Nice dotmap, barbs.

Here at turn 75, I'm fairly optimistic about my empire. Greenline just declared war on Ruff, although I don't see power indications at there is a major campaign gearing up. Ipecac, unsurprisingly, is my primary threat...he's poking a skimisher near the border so I might need to wack that away (Immortal, yo). First in crop, second in MFG, and third in GNP feels about right for this point in the game; the GNP is inflated by Oracle/Holy City, but doesn't yet show Currency so third is probably right.

Now the question is where to go from here. Have about five more peaceful cities on the mainland before I need to look into wrecking some fool.

Border conflicts on the horizon. Curious to see if he DoWs and moves onto the plain; otherwise I plant immediately (versus one turn's delay).

Skimishers are a stellar UU, but Immortals are a *perfect* counter. thumbsup

Presumably if you have more peaceful cities to plant, then one can safely assume he does too and may not want to poke the bear unless dared to by an exposed worker/settler, which they don't appear to be.

I'm dedlurking, btw, not spoiled.

He withdrew, so Dalek squats baleful above the plains.

Something something topical; Iranians pour over the American border!

I think there's a relevant dialogue somewhere around here...

So, um, how do you justify Moties as one of these?  Weren't they just 'alien threat' or maybe 'aliens under blockade'?  You're not being Horace Bury, are you?

If you're going to mine the works of Niven, surely Kzinti or Slavers or Thrintun would come first, since they actually touched human worlds?

Also, yes, another case of 'Spears!  Build spears for garrisons!'
