That'll be up next turn, I expect. Another 50th anniversary, so I'll include the military screen. Basically, my Praetorians ARE my army. Other than them, I have a couple of Spearmen, a couple of Axemen, and the Horse Archers and Catapults I was given (4 each).

I suppose that Dantski doesn't update his thread much, so he's an ongoing exchange between us (if I didn't mention it before, Dantski ordered my Scout out of his territory a few turns back).

Unlike yourself I do not have a good map in regards to every civs city locations, both of my warriors (I have 1 north also) will be defogging the land and will not be hanging around to keep an eye on your cities.

Besides I have spies that can do that right? heh

To me, it is the principle of the matter. I do not wish to strain our relations further, but I insist on having permission to pass through your territory if you wish to explore mine. However, I may be willing to let it slide if you will take a trip into Korean territory and let me know what is there . . . .

As for the spies, last I checked, Spies (the unit) were outlawed when the game was created. Unless you are talking about a different kind of "spy?"

I don't really expect Dantski to spy for me, and even if he doesn't I don't necessarily expect an honest report. But it can't hurt to ask. Well, I suppose it could hurt to ask, but I have more important things to worry about than offending him.

I'll have to make sure that I'm not getting any income from his cities, but I may close borders if he doesn't give in to my demands. I don't think that I'm in the wrong here, and as I said, it's a matter of principle.

According to civ stats, slaze has whipped Longbows in nearly every city he has. Of course, I am assuming that they are Longbows, but since he has just got Feudalism, it is most likely.

Neither Nakor nor Athlete believes that plako is going to attack me imminently, though Athlete thinks that is just because they are not ready yet.

After Metal Casting, despite my desires to go pluck the top of the tech tree (why can't they let me just be a peaceful builder?), I may pick up either HR > Archery > Feudalism, or maybe even Machinery > Archery and use Crossbowmen to defend. Not as good absolute defense as Longbowmen, but they'll stop plako's Axemen cold. Still, Machinery is an expensive tech.

Oh, and because I love soaking in the blood of my enemies.

I suppose you could say that I would love to build up peacefully . . . so that I can better conquer my enemies later. Still, I don't consider myself particularly bloodthirsty, only easily aroused to anger.

And, remember, it's Pax Imperium. There's no such thing as "Rome."

I'm also glad that I have your vote for "Most Entertaining." I've got to provide something ever since I lost "Most Likely to Utterly Crush the Competition into the Dust" to team Spullla. Before the game even started.

Can't log into the game until later, but I'll make sure to grab lots of nice pictures. I plan to attack slaze next turn . . . . Actually, the turn hasn't rolled since team Holy Rome still has to end turn. Or let the timer run out.

As for the war, I'm starting to envision this as a slow-go, mainly because of the threat from Korea. I plan to move along carefully and decisively. I should probably talk to Athlete about a fair division of the land because I expect him to make faster progress, although I know that "Possession 9/10s of the law."

Oh, and here is what I think is the rest of the exciting saga of my negotiations with Dantski.

Afraid I insist on being able to pass through your land, you must have full info on my land and my units will not be lingering around to give out any information to others, in fact I have not contacted the honourable Korean people once with Roman city info once and nor have they asked for any.

Also HRE has units in my territory and you have a scout which likely moves in and out of my landfor info every turn so I don't think my gathering of map info is anything other than totally reasonable. If you don't agree please allow me a few turns to send my scouts to a place where they won't be trapped by your culture (i assume there's 1-2 places).

OK. I know that you are not asking for anything unreasonable, so I am willing to make a compromise. If you are just looking for map info, please submit a projected scouting path to me before this turn ends. It may seem a bit draconian, but this way you get to fill in your map, and I get to feel more secure about what you are seeing. So long as you follow that, you can pass through. Otherwise, I will give you a couple of turns to leave. Like you, I have concerns about others passing through my lands.

I will also stop skirting your borders with my scout. I can see why that bothers you. There just aren't many safe places for a mere Scout to be these days.

That sounds good to me. In fact, if you move North at the end of that move set, there are some roads you can use to get to Incan territory a bit faster.

I'm more or less pleased with the result, even if I backed down a bit. I suppose I'm not mean enough for this job. I thought about saying "deviate from this course at your own peril," but that probably would have been too much. Anyway, now I know where he is going, and I am going to move my Horse Archers out of view when he gets close to where they are. Just don't want to risk him spilling their presence to plako.

I wonder what Danstki thinks of this exchange. I may never know, since he doesn't seem to update his thread very much.
