6-3 (again...) with shaman this time, I think I was playing badly though, I didn't really have a good idea of what i wanted the deck to do and it probably suffered from this lack of strategy. I let myself take too much damage and then got pyroblasted out twice, oops.

*Sunwalker(6) / defender of argus / ravenholdt assassin
*Dark Iron Dwarf (4) / chillwind yeti / raid leader
*Cult Master (4) / thrallmar farseer / wisp
*Spiteful smith (5) / totemic might / dread corsair
*Harvest golem (2) / bluegill warrior / frost shock
*Chillwind yeti (4) / flesheating ghoul / direwolf alpha
*windspeaker (4) / bluegill warrior / silverback patriarch
*Direwolf alpha (2) / murloc raider / ancestral healing
*boulderfist ogre (6)/ frost shock /loot hoarder
*mind control tech (3) / alarmobot / violet teacher
*youthful brewmaster (2) / argent squire / dust devil
*unbound elemental (3) / booty bay bodyguard / amani berserker
*shattered sun cleric (3) / unbound elemental / dread corsair
*unbound elemental (3) / direwolf alpha / gnomish inventor
*lightning bolt (1) / venture co merc / mad bomber

(I needed something to activate the elementals now)

*reckless rocketeer (6) / silvermoon guardian / voodoo doctor

(Silvermoon guardian really sucked in the previous deck, rocketeer is a pseudo-kill spell)

*flametongue totem (2) / argent squire / murloc raider
*Lightning bolt (1) / dust devil / lord of the arena
*Forked lightning (1) / ironforge rifleman / silverhand knight
*lightning storm (3) / lava burst / defender of argus
*Faerie dragon (2) / worgen infiltrator / core hound
*chillwind yeti (4) / oasis snapjaw / bloodfen raptor
*jungle panther (3) / gurubashi berserker / reckless rocketeer
*windfury harpy (6) / ancestral healing / totemic might
*frostwolf warlord (5) / bloodlust / ironbeak owl
*lightning bolt (1) / unbound elemental / bloodsail raider
*stormforged axe (2) / abusive sergeant / earthen ring farseer
*stormforged axe (2) / frostwolf warlord / wolfrider

(tough one, I seem to be lacking high level creatures)

*venture co. merc (5) / stormwind champion / oasis snapjaw

(okay, so problem solved)

*wild pyromancer (2) / abomination / pint sized summoner

This is actually a pretty good Deck, and you can't really worry about double Pyroblast in Arena 'cause it's so rare. Quick opinions on the picks:

*windfury harpy (6) / ancestral healing / totemic might

Personally, I would take Ancestral Healing, unless I was dreadfully lacking in late game.

*windspeaker (4) / bluegill warrior / silverback patriarch

I would take Bluegill Warrior unless my Deck had a reason for burst damage like bloodlust, as Windspeaker's stats are very undercosted for it's effect (Hence why I value the Windfury spell over Windspeaker personally) and Bluegill isn't too bad.

*reckless rocketeer (6) / silvermoon guardian / voodoo doctor

Silvermoon might have sucked in the last deck, but I prefer Silvermoon Guardian to Rocketeer except in rush Decks: It's usually actually pretty good, taking out stuff below 4-drop while surviving.

Overall tho I'd say most choices were the "correct" one and 6-3 is actually a pretty good record.

Still won that game, though, as he emptied his hand doing it and then got minor cards the next two rounds while I finished him off. smile

So what is the largest single-turn damage you have received but survived? I guess with armor it could go above 30. Same question for most single-turn damage inflicted, survived or not. smile

Also, I got a confusing (to me, anyway) message pop up about the April Season. What is that about? Is this related to Ranked play? I have not tried that yet.

Yes the popup is about ranked play, ranks are reset.

I've tried out a fun little deck along the lines of high damage in a single turn but focused on using the rarely used Paladin card "Blessed Champion". My idea is just to get something on the board, buff it up with blessing of kings and the 1 mana card which gives a minion +3 attack and throw Blessed Champion on it for a big finisher. I'm not sure what route I should be taking the deck in though, I tried a slow and controlled deck initially but it struggled to keep stuff on the board against heavy control decks. Then I switched to a zoo type deck and the results didn't improve and it lost to other aggro decks.

Tidesoftime was running a similar deck centered around 2xStranglethorn Tiger which is hard to clear and a great target for the +attack buffs. He also ran several cards to help him live long enough to pull off the combo - ie board clear and heals.

Yeah using stealthed minions like Tiger or Ravenholdt Assassin occurred to me but I hadn't tried it yet. My original deck was fairly standard Paladin deck but I think it needed to run some taunt's in terms of sunfury's or argus. It was also using Core Hound just because there's the potential to 1HKO with it if it wasn't cleared immediately. twirl

How do people manage to draft ridiculous Hunter combo decks with buzzards/unleash the hounds/hyena in arena when I don't even get Fireball on mage smile

Sheer luck? I had s strong arena run a week or two ago that got its 3rd loss to a guy who used 5 consecrates on me, its possible he had more. Then there was the game where someone played Cairne/Ragnaros/Ysera on consecutive turns.

I have an awful time getting removal cards in drafts, today my Druid was offered 2 claws and 1 starfire for removal. On the plus side the minion quality was perhaps the best I've ever drafted since the worst ones I had were probably my river crocs.

I guess the Arena draft was not what I expected it to be. I was expecting something a little more normalized across players. Not just rolling a dice for you and if you get crappy draws then tough luck.

Eh, drafted a paladin deck with Tirion, two Consecrations, a Truesilver champion and in the very first battle ran into a second turn Sword of Justice drop via Coin. Needless to say, the Consecrations didn't come out and neither any of the other good stuff as I was rolled over by a wave of Justice-boosted junk.

Sorry uberish but I'd not be your arena pal right now. My hunter deck has 4x unleash the hounds, 3x buzzards, a hyena, a hound master, a rhino, and 3x highmanes. Ended up with 21(!) class cards.

Paladins seem rather overpowered in arena, so many good cards tongue I was consistently getting 5-7 wins on my weekend arena binge and then went 12-2 the first time I tried paladin, got Tirion, 2 truesilver, consecrate, blessing of kings, 2 argent protector, and judging by enemy paladin decks I fight it's not uncommon to get decks like this. Tirion even turned out to be mostly useless, he was immediately silenced by an owl 3 games in a row and then copied by a faceless manipulator the next.

On a side note I think I have to defend Naturalize as not being that bad a card. It is 3 cards for 1, sure, and wouldn't be a first choice or something you wanted more than one of in your deck, but sometimes killing that 1 expensive creature and having enough mana to play something else will swing the board in your favour so much that it is worth it anyway
