THEATER is the Assassin!

Red Team wins!

I'll hold off on posting the board for now, in case one of the spymasters wants to give their next clue for the team to guess at.

I was expecting Blue team to clear the board in 3 rounds, with one of the clues as Jurassic 3 (not 4).  So I was trying to win in 3 rounds.

A 6-word Red clue (Finger is linked to so many things, I could have reasonably said Finger 9) was going to run into lots of gray words, which I'd been planning on.  (I was expecting my teammates to hit PLAY fast.)  There was no other way I could see to win in 3 rounds without serious risk of hitting THEATER.

Next clue would probably have been Pieta Unlimited.  I had a whole list of Unlimited clues I had prepared (spoiler shows all actual Red words):
  • Pieta (ANGEL MARBLE)
  • Holy (ANGEL CAST RABBIT)
  • Statue (ANGEL MARBLE CAT, likely to hit LUCK)
  • Winged (ANGEL BAT)
  • Mammal (BAT CAT RABBIT)
  • Halo (ANGEL PISTOL, except I haven't played the game so I have no idea if it actually has a pistol)
  • Harp (ANGEL CONCERT, may hit THEATER)
  • Liszt (CAT RABBIT CONCERT, probable to hit THEATER, especially since this requires my team to be aware of specific Tom and Jerry and Bugs Bunny cartoons, which I watched a lot of as a kid)
  • Artist (CONCERT MARBLE, almost certain to hit THEATER)
A lot of these would also hit PLAY (there's no good way I could see to avoid this) or HAND or both.

ANGEL (not a surprise, but yes that was an intended target of Finger) or MARBLE (as in the little round spheres you shoot, which I thought was a strong link to Finger) hadn't come up much in deliberation, so those were targeted next.

I also was going on the assumption that real bats have fingers, but real cats and rabbits don't.  And you can wrap fingers around a baseball bat, in case animal bats don't.  Though cartoon cats and rabbits certainly have fingers.

What I'd been expecting from Blue (spoiler shows all actual Blue words):
  • Zeus 2 (GREECE JUPITER)
  • Jurassic 3 (DINOSAUR PARK LIFE BOLT (+1))
  • Poker 3 (JACK HEART GAME).  By this time, I'd expected PLAY and HAND to both be long gone.
This was much quicker to find than any coherent 3-round plan for me that didn't risk hitting THEATER ... which I thought was a far bigger problem for me, it's tough to clue CONCERT without hitting it.

Assassin!

When was the last time one was hit?! I don’t recall one since Codenames 1!

There have been a few actually. Codenames 11, 17 and at least 1-2 more.

This is actually the 2nd time a Jurassic clue has hit assassin, I also hit it with that clue in 17. (There were 2 assassins in 17 IIRC)

Well that sucks. What was the 4th Jurassic word supposed to be?

Sorry about that. Theater never occurred to me as a Jurassic name, I was perhaps dating myself by thinking of it as a GAME:

I was still pretty confident in red clearing by three, I was feeling pressured.
