Congrats!
Am I to blame for your Colossus-addiction? I remember that game though, moneybag tile yield on coast during golden ages

Possibly to MS in the NW, and then somebody as of yet unknown in the east. Have not spotted anything yet however. We've been fighting! ![]() 2XP despite the safe odds Well earned first time top demo spot: ![]() ... slightly helped by 4x KTB and 3 arrow boni . In fact we've been whipping again, and the demos took some downturn. The good part is we have two settlers up now. I hope Charriu might be lurking silently, and taking delight in the t82 lumbermill at Grey Goo. To close, some humour: ![]() Much impressed by Dono's will to destruction. Not sure where this is supposed to end for him, but it can only be good for us. But yes, metal has no copper for the time being. Pretty sure he will not lose Cheju though, with 3 axes in it already.
Ok I didn't want to talk about this but how does this square?
![]() ![]() ![]() By my PBspy observation which shouldn't be too far off, Piccadilly has 10 cities, then the next in the field have 8. So 15-19 food per city. So is everybody, or that sole top person, running way larger cities? Apparently not - our cities this turn are size 4, 3, 6, 4, 3, and 2, and we have more than half the population of the leader, and everybody knows how nonlinearly this works, and also the largest unknown city is size 7. Our capital, using all three food sources (ie stealing from other minor cities), can make 16 food (admittedly at size 4, at size 7 and with a lighthouse it could do 23). And that guy has that in each of their cities on average, and they're all founding new cities, so they must have some with close to 30. I'm at a complete loss.
yeah the math is not mathing on the global best crop yield, was this a random map roll? Did someone get something like 8 wet corn? Maybe its just a massive floodplain river valley. Idk its pretty shocking and tbh a little disheartening bc i don't see a mathematically possible way of beating that without a dogpile, and an early one at that.
I saw something once that said that the reason starcraft wasnt as popular as league of legends was that you could only blame yourself, i guess thats why people love the random maps lol. Personally I like the semi-mirrored premades. Expansion is chugging along, we have to select next tech target after writing comes in next turn. Monarchy probably waits for second GP, unless we want to eat the revolt turn. Normally as an ORG civ at this stage of the game Code of Laws would be appealing, but maintenance is really low on this map, Math and the 3cs? But which C? Re: Donovan's war, I don't see it going anywhere either, though a rapid vult... errrr defensive response force of war chariots couldn't hurt to have on hand. Vodka says that War Chariots trade favorably on offense against Horse Archers (equal prod quantity). Broken unit lol. We don't need to necessarily do a full war either, potentially razing Wonan and resettling it 2E would give us gems/cow/banana, and close to a major production center in Grey Goo.

Reporting if Mig won't
![]() Gavagai has found us via workboat through Magic Science, also MS has settled what looks like an island city north of our Moai. This has raised concerns that our island chain in the north is connected to MS or to Gav, who is currently eating Xist wholesale despite having no early hammer traits and building Stonehenge ![]() Mig also gave Gav open borders, just because I don't want him spying our thalassic treasure chest, but we'll put up with it for now I guess Speaking of the islands, at first I was very excited to discover all this ocean with colossus, but now with every new bit of island territory, I am increasingly dreading the inevitable and probably quick astronomy obsoletion. Turns out this is not Donovan's first adventure with Incan Horse Archers https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/show...05&page=13 After a failed early elimination attempt, he swings south and knocks Commodore out of the game, apparently in response to Commodore gifting his previous victim the copper they needed to survive. So maybe we don't give Metal our spare copper ![]() Horchers spotted in GKC. I'm pretty nervous about an attack from him, bc we'd really prefer to sim city for another 20 turns. But it doesn't feel like something he could do thoroughly successfully, so maybe he won't try.

Early on I felt no pressing research needs, so we went for MC because Ind forges - which have not come really fast, but they're quite good with the gold still. And well, we're Ind, and the forge was there already, so... Still not sure if it was the right call to not just wait for failgold, we've had the wonder for 8 turns now and it's been making just 2 coins per turn ever since. Spacy dotmap and inland oriented on top. This will get better as we settle islands, but stilll. GLH I didn't want because the idea was to go for Paper rather early. Been a while since a nice picture, so have an overview: ![]()
I had fun with this one:
![]() Also should commenta bit on the wider state of the game. As Donovan surely reported extensively and you have all read, he had a lot more success than expected with his chariot / horse archer assault on metal, razing his copper city with a naval strike in his opening move, which of course cut short the supply of spears. Nice. He proceeded to take their border city, which for reasons inscrutable he also razed, and we were expecting him to run over metal, since he also kept whipping. But this turn they made peace!? So now we are more than a little spooked. Him attacking us makes not all that much sense, given that we're his neighbours' neighbours, but that's the man who founded a second city on a grass cow for no discernible gain: ![]() So his and our idea of what makes sense evidently differ at times. And he is running around with like ten 2-movers, so I just hope that he returns clam/clam. I know he wouldn't lie. What's more, GKC in the south is stacking horse archers as well, on a tile pointing towards us - which is weird, because we are very clearly observing him. Have they been exchanging War with Miguelito messages, to then split metal afterwards? To note, we don't have borders touching with either, but the metal-Donovan peace has me deeply confused. It would be such a clear cut thing for Don to get at least Pusan on top, and for GKC to vulture from the south. Fwiw, I wanted to vulture myself for a long time, but in the end it looked like the distances were too long, we had too little on hand in terms of WCs, and most of all it would provoke a reaction from GKC, so we were planning to just sit it out and focus on settling islands and building up infrastructure. We'll see if we get the chance.
I just want to note that I was very sceptical of the founding on a cow, but another lurker thought it was a good idea in order to share food. I won't rat them out.
