[SPOILER] Shaka of Inca - gingereagle1969 & Sandover

Ooh .. decided to try & extract some info from Gaspar/Nakor

Quote:Sanibona Nakor & Gaspar of the Totaal Voetbal Empire

His Illustrious Majesty [yada yada yada] suspects there maya have been some foreign infiltration that led to these rumours, unfortunately His policy of crushing heads then asking questions could not confirm this. It is suspicious that we have met with a wall of silence when contacting with the Crazy Empire, have they been in regular contact with yourselves? It could be that their courier was eaten by a Bear, but I doubt it.

Regarding contact with other civilisations, His Illustrious Majesty [yada yada yada] wonders if you have met anyone else, apart from the above Crazies, and the Koreans you previously mentioned? Regarding the latter, do you know if they are heading our way? His Illustrious Majesty [yada yada yada] wouldn't want another diplomatic incident if we were to be taken by surprise. You keep mentioning these Indians as if you are obsessed! His Illustrious Majesty [yada yada yada] was aware your Warrior [Feyenoord was it?] headed East along our borders after making contact with us, please advise if a Quechua should need to follow him, at a discreet distance of course!

Sobonana,

Lord Protector GingerEagle
on behalf of His Illustrious Majesty,
Shaka Rex of The Shakirite Empire
[may His hips never lie, may His breasts remain small and humble]

note the play on words in the first line rolf

The workers have better things to do than build that road for your troops. Hell, your entire civ has better things to do than train those troops in the first place!

I'm looking forward to seeing the result though.smile

I'll chop out loads of Workers after a couple of turns tongue

anyway, it's been 5 Days (and at least as many turns) since I made first contact Whosit/Ravus Sol and met with no reply .. what did they think would happen? Maybe we can get a bloodless victory, he'll give us the lake-city so we don't go after his other(s), what do you reckon? Is it within his psyche to do so, or is he always unpredictable?

Ooh .. any thoughts on next tech? Fishing -> Sailing -> Calendar (would boost the food on those Sugar tiles), Masonry, or something else?

Right .. turn played

Have built the last 2 Quechua [for a while anyway] just need them to link up for the trek North-West to :war4: War!! Let's see if the threat of 4 promoted-Quechua [plus an non-promoted one & a Warrior] is sufficient leverage to take the city without blood-shed .. that's the million-to-one chance I alluded to earlier so I hope The Lady is still listening tongue

Now the cities revert to more peaceful things ... WakaWakaShaka actually grew to size 6, and SheWolf is not far off size 3, so a Settler is now not a bad option [especially as I have pre-prepared hammers to chop into it [Shaggy02 is moving back to finish off his tile ... ooh, now with the Maths bonus .. result!! War! What is it good for? Absolutely nothing! Umm, try reading that again :neenernee] So that's a Settler sorted to settle opposite the lake-city I'm going to take by hook or by crook. What to build in SheWolf? Library, maybe? Or Worker? Probably the latter, especially as Shaggy01 is roading to the Copper & will finish off that Mine [hammers into the next Worker then]

Update on Shabb03's trek south-west:

This:

is beginning to give me deja vu:

seems to be an exact reverse [vertical flip - NE maps onto NW] ... if there's a Cow tile to the other of the Oasis, that'll confirm it ... Who's land is this? Should find out out in about 3 more turns smoke Nakor/Gaspar appears to have come from this direction, or had they just come from the Koreans [Malikai] (?) ... hang on, surely not my current nemesis, Whovus (!) If it is so, weird map!! But this could prove very funny as I'll be knocking on his back-door too ... if he's silently shitting himself waiting for an attack, this'll produce diarrhoea rolf

Oh yeah, did I not mention, Mathematics completed this turn!!! Really angling towards Fishing [get it!] unless I get advise to the contrary.

Now the demos:

not a surprise to see I'm top on soldier points ... but as some techs & building also give these points it's difficult to tell the size of armies ... think it's fair to claim it though - 9 Quechua [4 with Barracks-promos to spend], 1 Warrior, and 2 Workers (if they count) should win. So who's top on land & pop? Kyan/India and/or Tredje/Byz I bet as the 2 cities 'better than' 3rd-placed WakaWakaShaka are unknown to me. Could be Malakai/Korea, but I doubt it as his score is not that far ahead of mine.

Finally, he writes:

Quote:Greetings GingerEagle of the Shakirites,

I apologize for the long-delayed response, for I have lost my Voice (Ravus). I am still waiting for it to return, but I can at least make a brief reply to your message.

We have indeed come into contact with the Voetbal's, as well as the Koreans. Last I saw, their warrior was wandering in your direction. Has he run into you yet? We are still searching for the other Tribes, but note the Indian's meteoric climb with apprehension. They have quite the advantage in this world, wouldn't you say?

If your Settler is not yet en route to Lake Liter, I would be pleased to inform you that our scouts have found an identical lake to your (presumed) southwest. It seems like it would be an equally suitable location, and would forgo the necessity of drawing up treaties just yet. I hope that information proves helpful.

Sincerely,

Whosit
Crazy Co-Consul
Emperor of Entropy

6 [SIX] days and at least as many turns [maybe 7, SEVEN!] and he suggests I settle elsewhere (!) So, there's 'an identical lake' to my South-West, eh? Found one to my South-East & North-West, so there must be [by obvious extrapolation] one to my North-East too ... decisions, decisions ... do I risk open war with who is obviously my neighbour, one that may be long-drawn out, or do I potentially instigate it by settling the as yet unknown lake to my North-East? Well, if he can leave it 6 days to respond, so shall I ... and that response will be my Quechua knocking on his borders with a Settler en-route to completely take over the lake ... a lake he has cheekily named (Lake Liter, indeed!) ... right, that settles it .. Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho, It's Off To War We Go!!!!

Now is that other, as yet unread, email the turn?

yes ... it was!!

Right ... to work.

Whovus will see my response in about 6, or 7, turns as Shabbas 05, 07 & 08 are heading towards the Sheep tile near the lake. Shabba 06 & 09 will arrive 1 turn later. During this time, I will get a look at his graphs as I estimate 3, maybe 4, turns to go [I'm spending all 4 of my EPs on him]

Shabba03 confirmed my suspicions, as the Cows emerged from the fog! I should see who's land this is in 2 turns .. I'd love it to be Whovus rolf

I'm showing city-views this time:

WakaWakaShaka:

Shaggy02 is on the tile marked "pre-chopped [1]" ... this will chop a whole turn off the Settler ... Shabba10 is heading over to escort this Settler to the lake settlement site.

SheWolf:

Growth was 1 turn away, so I decided on a turn into a Library before I switch to a Worker. Shaggy01 is continuing the Mine on the Copper tile, so the hammers will go into the Worker [if there's a surplus, that'll go into another one]

On to the Techs ... as there were no calls to the contrary, I've done Fishing in 1 turn, Sailing will take another 2 turns, and Calendar will follow 9 turns later. By that time, I should have enough Workers to crack on with developing the Sugar tiles, along with anything else that needs a Calendar to work =)

ooh ... the demos:

OK, who's borders popped? Or was that new cities placed?
