[SPOILERS] Isabella of Carthage, starring Ellimist, SleepingMoogle, and Nicolae

Not sure about score tracking, though last I check Nob's score hasn't really increased. He's either going BW or Fishing.

A quick sim says I can land the Oracle on T48. Pretty early, I sacrifice tile improvements and I whip off the gold tile. We can get even more ambitious and chop/whip a forge in our capital, so we can get GE GPPs for a mids/GL run. This severely delays city #3 though.

I'm fine with the Poly - Oracle route, as long as we are reasonably sure that no one else is going there. Delaying city 3 for an early engineer is pretty bad though. It might be an option if we were Phi, but I'd rather not completely kill our expansion.

One point to consider though: will there be Copper on our island? Getting the Colossus will pretty much require it. smile

Well we can hold the save for a bit once BW comes in to discuss things. Once we know if there's copper we can decide on the oracle/colossus route.
Plus, if we get the oracle, we don't have to get the colossus right away. We'll have so much of a head start on it that we can prioritize other things over a fast colossus.

Also, feel free to erase any of my artwork. It won't bother me if you do.

I played the turn. Nothing of interest to report.

Also, do you guys have any opinions on the city naming theme? Good/bad/indifferent?

When/if we get closer to being able to do that, we can figure out if it's worth it. It's probably too far in the future right now to really even weigh the options.

Oh. I do want to mention...

The last turn I played was turn 18. We'll finish bronze working at the end of turn 20. I do like the myst-poly-priest-wheel-pot path because I think Colossus will be huge and I think NobleLewwyn may overestimate their chances for it.

If we go the religious path, for Oracle, is it worth it to go for Polytheism rather than Meditation? Polytheism costs 28 more beakers and sends a clear signal to the world that we are likely going for the Oracle. It does give us an early religion, and a quick border pop for fishes, but there is definitely a cost-benefit consideration involved.
Mostly I'm worried that if NobleLewwyn see both Buddhism and Polytheism founded early, they may start racing for Oracle early enough to beat us. I mean, I know we're Isabella but that doesn't mean we HAVE to be the first(second) to found a religion.

Also, will we have a chance to chop the forest under city #2 before we settle? Is it worthwhile to do so?
Both of you are better with the worker micro than I am, so feel free to spell out anything that I may not grasp the full implications of(like maximizing overflow.)
Do either of you have a decent sim put together? If not I can build one soon.

I noticed some things about the map when I turned tile yield indicators on. I put the stuff that I noticed in spoilers cause it's a big image:

The tiles I boxed with yellow and pink are ocean tiles. The pink ones, and others like it, have a yield of 1F/1C. The five visible yellow tiles have no yield at all. This is because there is no potential city that could be founded to include those tiles in a BFC. This tells us that we should not expect to find land in those directions for at least that distance.

While messing around with this, I noticed something else. We are apparently on a flat map, and the tile I boxed in with blue is the Northwest corner of the map.

If you experiment with a "goto" order on a land unit, you get the red "can't go there" circle over fogged tiles, oversea land tiles, and ocean tiles. This is the case for all tiles to the south and east of our position. To the north and west, however, the tiles simply do not exist.

Therefore we are in the Northwest corner of what is probably a square map. All four players are likely in the corners and there is either one major continent in the middle or potentially many islands.

And FYI and for good measure, I checked each of the land tiles we can see that isn't on our island. Except for the 3 that are visibly on a river, none of them show access to fresh water. And fog reading says that the tile 3S3E from Sirius is definitely a mountain. Most of the fogged tiles north of that mountain are hills, most of the fogged tiles west of it are flatland.

Based on some more speculative fog reading and some known Krill tendencies, I'm going to guess the original map script was a flat world donut, with 4 islands added around the edges for players to start on. Even if this is true, I have no idea what other modifications he might have made to it, but I think a central island such as in Pitboss 2 is likely.
I can't rule out an archipelago, but even if that's what we have now, I think he started with a donut. It's a nice and symmetrical map involving water and it's easy to modify things into or out of to make it balanced. I suspect that each starting island is identical to the others(flipped) and the basic mix of tiles/rivers we can see on the mainland is the same, with no resources on it visible to anyone(yet.)
And, for the record, so far I like the map. Bravo Krill.

Okay, I'll stop spamming now.

Okay, BW is in. There is no copper on the island but a source on the other landmass, 4 tiles east of Sirius on the plains hill.

I started us on mysticism. I haven't swapped to slavery yet, I figure why bother when we're spiritual and can wait until it's needed.

Sirius grows next turn and completes a workboat. I have a settler queued after the WB and the worker is in position to start chopping the hill next turn as well.

Hmm, well I guess we can fit a city on the mainland to grab the Copper before starting the Colossus. Sending a scouting WB east will become quite important. smile

When do we want to revolt into Slavery? Once the Settler is moving to the second city location?

It doesn't matter, we're spiritual. I figured we were going to whip the settler and we'd revolt right before we whip. Speaking of this... We can't double whip anything until we reach size 4. Is it better to single whip the settler or grow to size 4 (building something else) then double whip it?

I'm not sure if the change to medium upkeep(from slavery) will cost us anything once we're at size 3.

Ah no, the current plan is to chop the forest hill I marked earlier, finish the mine (I believe we have time), move the settler into position, and we should be settling on T31. Pretty early for normal speed. There are too many good tiles to whip off right now, I'd rather be growth slowed on grass hill mines than to whip them off, especially without a granary. Things haven't moved that fast since last I simmed, so I don't think my plan has changed alot.
