Thanks novice.
I'm fine with your mapscript idea, but a few questions on the map settings:
1. Are strategic resources going to be standard or critical resources close?
2. Are scattered improvements going to be 12 or 18?
3. Is Allow BFC Improvements going to be On or Off?
4. Is your water style Inland Seas like you said above or more like Inland Oceans?
I admit I like the idea of a faster start, but Discovery does not Include a worker. If we want a worker, we should start with Expansion which automatically includes one already. Or, we should permanently mod Discovery to also grant a worker. Otherwise, we aren't actually testing Discovery.

Sorry novice if I overstepped my bounds. I admit I spoke a bit out of emotion, and though I'm not ashamed or regretting any part of it, I do deeply apologize if anyone feels misrepresented by what I said.
DaveV, Mirrorland is perfectly fine. It's a script I admit to being quite fond of, and I completely understand your desire to use mirroring (although I would be fine with a bit of imbalance). By the way, it is possible to edit the mapscript so that it generates a larger map for 4 players rather than having to have (more) duplicate areas - I can send you a edited version with that done if you want.
(Based on your tile count, I believe you meant Inland Oceans, not Inland Seas? I don't mind either way.)
I'm happy to start with a worker - or not, if people prefer otherwise.
Otherwise, that sounds like a really good setup. Thanks for doing this!

Scattered improvements are off, as he mentioned. Whilst I can't speak for DaveV, I imagine he'll roll the map and then decide on rebalancing the strats from there.
Like I said, I'm not hard-and-fast about whether or not we start with a worker, and I view it as a test either way. The starting units are definitely going to change in v12 (and I'm 90% sure I'll be changing it to add a worker), but it'll be useful info regardless.

If you're certain discovery will be modded soon to include a worker them I'm fine with that.

Kragroth, you are right, I should not have presumed to use Northstar to make a veiled attack on you and I apologise to you both for doing so. In fact I should not have made the comment at all since it undermined my original intent.
Anyway, I like the map idea; it sounds fun for us and easy for the mapmaker, which is the ideal combination. Now since I haven't been involved in one of these before, would one of you clarify how selection is handled....

We each PM our top three leader/civ combos (restricted, obviously) to DaveV, who uses the RNG if there are any ties.
Just to clarify, is tsunami banned or not? I presumed not because it hasn't really been mentioned, but one of Krag's recent posts implied he thought it was.

OK, simple enough.
I think that Krag had requested it to be banned; I have no issue with that.

I think the map script automatically places copper and horses close to the capital, but I will double check for that.

Zero.

Off.

Yes, I meant to say Inland Oceans.

DaveV, here and here are versions of Mirrorland altered so that 4 players gives the same amount of tiles as 8 players. I recommend using the first over the second, (as it has dimensions 32 x 20 per player rather than 16 x 40, so should make a more square map).
