So, are we on for tomorrow?

I am a bit anxious to get this started to be honest.

I’ve got enough comments from the lurkers to put the finishing touches on the map and send it to you today (probably get it out in about 3-ish hours).

I do not have the expansion so I will be sending you the map file and you will have to create the starting save. Have you followed the discussion in the World Builder thread?

I can post more detailed instructions on how to turn the map file into the starting save when I send it to you. I’ll do all the config stuff on the save so for you it will be literally as easy as pasting the file into the correct folder and selecting “Earth” as the map script.

You also need to make sure you properly set the DCL IIRC, but PYDT guides you through the process.

Also as eagre as I am to get started, I won't be back at my PC until tonight at earliest or tomorrow afternoon at the latest...

Mind posting the civ picks BTW Cornflakes? If everyone has chosen ofc...

Picks (in turn order to make sure I get this right):

@TAD - Make sure you double and triple check the settings and get them right the first time when you set up the starting save! The players are assigned randomly to the startling positions when you start the game so you don't want to have to re-start! (I pick the specific 6 starting locations, but they are randomized among the players)

I'll PM you a dropbox link. In fact, I'll send you a test map in a minute so you can do a practice on a random Pangaea just to make sure so the real map isn't your first one.

You will need to find the EarthMaps folder, see the screenshot below for the folder path in the base game. I'm assuming that they will be pulling the map scripts out of the base game, but you maybe want to check the expansion folder and see if there are map scripts there?

   

I'd recommend setting up the settings exactly as they will be in the real game (remember to check the "No Tribal Villages" box and set the game speed correctly). The number of city states shown may or may not be the actual number in the game it always shows 12 when setting up the Earth map.

   

You can play through all the first turns of the Hotseat game, and you will know you have correctly set up the map if the terrain at one of the starts looks like this:
