Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

Slacker status

Sunday, we caught BringOutYourDead (me) up. Past NM Diablo, and I think I only died once - being the pasty-faced craven that I am - when a seal boss abruptly spawned on top of me. We then took out Shenk, freed the barbarians - remember how in Classic Diablo, even the goats could figure out how to open a door? - and ended at the Arreat Plateau. Next stop Anya!

Much rubishness ensued last night, with CH, Hawkmoon, Occhi, Shadow, and myself in attendance. Nevertheless we managed to stumble our way to the WSK2 wp. Good news, we managed to recruit Shishak to play SmOcchi-the-Bare while Occhi is out on active duty. 3 cheers for our newest slacker!

Once again, I am rather unsure of my timing for Sunday, I am sorry to say.

We will, once again, be heading to the cottage. :D We will be returning Sunday evening, but the timing of the return is uncertain.

What about the rest of you?

Started Hell difficulty, did Den of Evil and Blood Raven, ended at the Stoney Fields waypoint.

Actually, BringOutYourDead caught up on the quests afterward. I'd fallen asleep on the couch and only woke up an hour after the game had started. For the easing of restrictions in Hell, I've decided - in Act 1, at least - to pump Mages, but not use any of the extra twenty points we are allowed. (1.10 having made my "way too many skeletons" idea a bit too viable, from the when Slackers started.) Also, my vitality is still at it's base value, so I remain in physical awe of the Big Buff Melee ™ characters - basically everyone else.

On to gear - I'm a bling-bling kind of Necromancer, after all - right now my merc he's using a Malice partizan and Arctic Furs - is that about on par with everyone else?

My enchantress is also running along on base stats. I did pump fire mastery -- there's only so much you can do with an enchantress build. smile

Still hoping for some good +skills items to pop out of the woodwork, as she has +0 to all right now except when using her leaf staff. A +skills ammy would have to be pretty good though to beat her +99hp whale ammy; I'd consider using a +2 or +3 fire skills ammy instead, but probably not a +1 unless it had other good properties. Hat is Naj's circlet, mainly for the +str and extra fire damage; again, +1 all is probably not good enough for a switch unless it has other goodness, but +2 or more to fire would likely be. Armour is a smoke runeword that the team found, which is nice & hard to beat unless we find a Skin of the Vipermagi or something. Bow is Raven's Claw, and hoping a Kuko drops.

My merc has an ethereal rare lance that does decent damage, plus enchant and holy freeze for elemental damage. He's using Sigon's armour and hat to get some life steal since the lance doesn't have any. He does well enough against a couple normal mobs at a time, but boss packs eat his lunch.

TyeFune is a very earnest sort of Slacker™. He really wants to be completely Slack, but he also detests dying. Additionally, his modus operandi is not terribly Slack, either. He casts his Hurricane and runs up close to the monsters, then spams Twister to (attempt to) keep the monsters stunned while the rest of the team kills them before they kill him. He also recasts Ravens, Oak Sage and Grizzly whenever they die, which seems to be distressingly often, and then tries to re-cast Hurricane as soon as it wears out.

Accordingly, he placed his Hell point bonus in Oak Sage (10 points, to try to avoid his constant dying, as well as to aid the minions and companions), Cyclone Armour (6 points, to get 'some' kind of elemental resistance but also to extend the duration of the Hurricane) and the balance in Tornado (to synergize with Hurricane, but also to have something to throw at the Cold Immunes). Further skill points will be given to Tornado as they become available.

He has not managed to be Slack in attribute point selection. He has 80 points in str, just in case a miracle occurs and Islestrike drops (I know it needs 85 str but the extra five should not be hard to find). Dexterity and Energy are base. Vitality, however, is 140.

His gear thus far is mixed. He has a Gaean Coronet (no suffix), a Shaman's Amulet (no suffix), an Ancient's Pledge shield and a Rhyme shield, two Yew wands with +30 and +26 Energy respectively, rare chain mail with a bit of resist, similar gloves and boots, a four row belt with 78 life, and rings with plus mana.

His mercenary is reasonably well off, actually. He got the ethereal Skin of the Vipermagi that normal Baal dropped, a prismatic circlet and has a gemmed war sword with a couple of resist jewels in it. Maybe a Lore hat could be in his future instead of the prismatic circlet, if I drop some diamonds in a three socket shield for him?

Hell difficulty. Progressed from Stoney Fields WP to the Outer Cloister. Rescued Cain and visted the Countess (only got a stinkin' Eld rune!wink.

The SoJ counter started turning for a while, but the clone never appeared. I kept the game open for a few hours after the others left, but no more SoJ messages and nothing happened.

Still in Hell difficulty (where else could we go now?), we started at the Outer Cloister and progressed to the inner cloister, effecting a regime change on the Horadric Malus in the process.

While waiting for Zed, we did another run of the Pit. Another wipeout, with a pause for the necro to gather meat shields so we could do corpse recovery.

As happened last week, b.net teased us with the SoJ counter, but no clone.

This week in SlackLand...

Caught Zed up on quests & Act 1 WPs from last time. (OC->Smith, Jail 1 WP)

Starting at IC, proceeded thru the Cats to slay Andy. Much death ensued, though nothing that was sufficient to kill all of us at once this time. Having ~300 hps in Hell is not usually considered a good thing, but some of us are stubborn and refuse to allocate stat points. smile

That done, we proceeded through the Sewers under Lut Gholein and paid Radament a visit. He was unimpressed to have company, but we were unimpressed with his decor, with the usual end result. More skill points we can't use, whee!
