[SPOILERS] Frederick of Sumeria

Damn, I keep playing these turns too quickly and forget to take the screenies bang

I had no response back from TT. Not sure now if I sent message properly last turn. Can lurkers tell me if I have done it correctly? I have tried a different way this turn which I think is probably the correct way.

Last turn I typed my message and then exited diplomacy, which I now think makes things null and void. This turn I offered trade.

So... what did I write.

I wish I took the screenie which was my intention. First off I asked if TT was interested in a 30 turn NAP. I don't want a combat I warrior planting himself on one of my forested tiles harrassing my worker.

I asked TT if a combat I warrior was a pleasant surprise to him rather than a Scout and finally I just confirmed if he received my message last turn as I think I did not send it properly.

T10 played.

Finally, my message got through to TT. HE agreed to a 20 turn NAP jive to avoid any warrior rush which was pleasing to see because I did not want "Wally" TT's warrior stationed on one of my forests in my boundary.

He was not interested in a rolling nap unless we could come up with a land settlement agreement. I can understand this. I replied letting him know where Stamford Bridge was in terms of tile movements so hopefully he can come back with distance to his so we can work out where the middle is about. I imagine about 15 - 18 tiles.

I moved my warrior south, it looks like we might be on a flat map and TT and myself are to the south.

On other notes something funny is happening in the soldier points rolleye Average fell - I think Ruff may have lost one of his warriors - but to who or what huh

I was just about to reply on reading through your thread but it seems you have got it sorted.

Good luck!

Thanks Square Leg. It had to be one way or the other.

T11 played.

I received this from TT

I think I might be closer as I should have been able to see his borders if he was as close to the flood plains as me.

I responded openly stating Stamford Bridge was 6 tiles off the river and I thought that centre ground might be around the Corn / Cow and Gold area of the map. See below:

Note the bear appearing on me hitting end turn. Looks like Wally is a goner!
If that is the case, then thats going to make life a little more comfortable even though we have agreed a 20 turn NAP last turn.

There looks a great hammer site 2 north of the sheep in the SW of the map shhh

Oh... did I mention flat map and TT and me are to the south. Well i've clearly got that wrong duh as my warrior revealed more land tiles in a southern direction.

Stramford Bridge completed it's Worker this turn jive
Warrior build next I think and get this city up to a decent size. Worker can start on the Rice.
BW due in 10 turns

And Demogs for T11

Ad has grown to size 2 now, so thats both Ruff and Ad at size two.

I had Ruff down as losing a Warrior last turn, but I now think it's Wally that has gone. This brings my solder points tally back in line if I think duh

As Spacemanmf pointed out in the PBEM thread - we managed a full turn between us in 4 hours today. So this update has T12 and T13 combined.

First things first. I have been slacking on my routine bang

I remembered to hit ctrl + tab on T13 and noticed this.

That was some 5 turns ago duh.

Anyway, checking back to my spreadsheet of logged points and demogs this put it in Ad's area, so he didnt get Mining - he got Polytheism. This would put my Soldier points system out by 2k, so he must have built a warrior that turn too.

He and Ruff are on 39 pts so both are size 2 at this present moment.

Only novice/spacemanmf/athlete4life have not had any pts increase. They must have gone for BW straight off, unless they are doing something funny with partial research of techs.

I will continue with the Diplo update as this is the first thing i get to see on load up of the save.

My aim in this game is to befriend TT and get a decent ally. Early game development is important I feel and don't want to get into any early wars with TT and fall behind to the others. I also aim to neutralise the early AGG impi threat as much as possible.

I should get an advantage on knowing the lands a little better than TT now Wally has fallen. I'm hoping I can capitalise on this little bit of fortune within our settlement plans.

This is the map as I know it on T12. I moved my warrior NW onto the forested hill on T13. Lets see if we can find what TT's settlement lands look like as a comparison.

Stamford Bridge completed the worker and I decided to improve the Wheat first as I will get 5F 1H 1C improved compared to 5F 1C improved Rice. I always get the Rice and Corn confused smoke

On T12 I continued to work the Rice for the +1 Food, but T13 I switched to working the improved Commerce tile East of Stamford Bridge to reduce the BW research down from 10 turns to 7. So after hitting end turn is due in 6. This will change again as the Wheat should come online in 3-4 more turns (I think) and I will switch to working that tile on completion.

T12 Demogs
[Image: PBEM13T012Demogs.jpg]

I think Ruff and Ad are the leading candidates for GNP at present.

Short term plan is to get a few more units out and try and grow to max size. The East is where my next Warrior will go, with the third hanging around Stamford Bridge. He may explore a bit of the north and then south or vice versa. I'm hoping for Copper bow to the resource Gods lol

T14 played this afternoon.

Diplo wise, TT came back to me in regards a dot map. He is going to try and prepare one but with Wally now gone, he may find it a little difficult.

I responded with no worries, no real rush. Just don't want either of us to impose a city that will annoy either of us - or something similar to that anyhow. :neenernee

Of notice this turn - novice / spacemanmf / athlete4 life (i'm going to refer to them as NSA from now on I think) got BW this turn and shot them up the leader board on soldier points.

Ad got a tech too, but not sure what yet. Assuming he didn't lose a warrior, then he must have researched either fishing / agriculture / priesthood / meditation or writing over 7 turns. I'm ruling the other possibilities out as these would give him soldier points. These improved commerce tiles could cover them all over 7 turns. However, I would have thought that fishing and priesthood would have been covered quicker than 7turns. I don't see why he would go meditation as Ruff took Buddhism. Hang on - writing is not an option - he needs AH, Pottery or Priesthood first. I'm going to plump for agriculture.

Stamford Bridge is on Warrior build and working the commerce tile still for max research on BW which is due in 4 turns now.

My warrior continues to explore west.

Finally found TT's borders. I'm thinking to stay within the trees with these nasty barb bears around, so SW next turn.

And finally the demogs for T14

And of final note... Mid writing this sentence! I've managed to do an update on here before NSA have played their next turn, alas I have not. I've just seen their emailer update letting me know they have played there turn banghead lol Damn those guys play there turns fast. Not that i'm complaining mind.

Whilst I have a little time - I have attempted my first dotmap for this PBEM.

I know, I know, not particularly good, but art was never my strong point :neenernee

This of course is subject to change, with BW coming in shortly any copper could influence my decision.

Green Dot
Straight across towards TT. I wonder if he will let me settle here?
I see this city being my GP pump which would work hand in hand with my PHI trait.
9 Flood Plains. Which if farmed would give me +18 food yikes Thats 9 specialists. Thats not even taking into account the extra food I would get from Wheat and Cow should I be able to hold the culture on those tiles.

Pink Dot
Labelled accordingly. Although an absolute neccesity in the main pitboss game, I think this placement will be a bit of a stretch too far for me. But if I could talk TT into letting me settle here, this could be a real good hammer city and military pump.

Yellow Dot and Red Dot
Filler cities in the north. I think I will try and make these commerce cities and cottage spam as much of that north as possible and then between tham and Stamford Bridge grow them tiles to towns where possible.

As for the south, I need to see a little more before deciding there, but there looks like a few hills and hammers down there so maybe more hammer military pumps. Only time will tell. I'm interested to see whats to the east and where those rivers flow.

Quick update as T15 has been played.

Very little to report.

Moved Warrior SW as mentioned in my previous posts. Didn't reveal too much. A cow resource appeared for a TT city to his SE.

Demogs, someone's land increased to 36k. I'm putting that down to Ad and a cultural border pop.

T16 played.

Farm completed on Wheat so switched to working that. BW changed from 3 to 4 turns before hitting end turn.

Warrior continues West, not much more revealed map wise.

Ruff increased by 6pts. Has to be a tech that gives 2k of soldier points, making it either Hunting / Mining /Sailing. 10 turns to complete. I would expect Hunting or Mining to be dine sooner so I am plumping for Sailing.

Interesting start - Meditation then Sailing. What's Ruff up to huh

Turn 18 has been played.

First off the map.

I make the disputed land between TT and myself the line north to south 1 east of the gold.

I sent TT a diplo message. Actually, I may have sent it twice as I hit return on one of my sentences and the diplo screen disappeared banghead so had to retype.

I asked TT if he had any thoughts on settlements and that we both had equal rights to the divide mentioned above. I offered a north / south divide where if one of us claimed the north of that divide, the other could take the south.
Hopefully he will find this acceptable. With any luck he will agree and want the north as I plan to settle 2 east 1 north of corn so the north is probably of little use. We'll just have to wait and see.

I also mentioned I had a hunch about the map, but will require a few more turns to confirm and if he had any idea what his west looked like.

So... my hunch. smoke

Has Amelia given us equal starts I wonder?

Note the Wheat SW of where Ashes should be. Note the Stone 3 south. Note the Cow 4 SE, the grassland in his big x 2 south and the hlls and forest 1 south and the Mountain range to the east. Take a look at my big x. Note any similarities rolleye

I wonder if TT has to his west what I have uncovered. If that is the case, do I have to the East what I have uncovered east of TT huh

C&D

NSA discovered a 5 turn tech worth 2k. Or they got a 5 turn tech and a warrior. I'm going for hunting though, with a leadup to AH probably.

Stamford Bridge completed it's warrior and grew to size 2. BW has 1 more turn of tech.
