Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

Slacker status

No Slacking for me on this coming Sunday.

My favourite dead queen's birthday is the nominal reason for our statutory holiday. However, the real reason is that we Canucks desperately need a long weekend about now, and we seized any excuse to get it. lol

So I will be at the cottage until Monday. Best of luck to the rest of the team. smile

Hi,

remember how in Classic Diablo, even the goats could figure out how to open a door?

Yeah. And both the barbarians and Cain went to the same school to learn incompetent self unreliance. Once you "free" them, they take about one step and cast town portal. Duh?

I'm almost certainly not going to be at Slackers tonight. Just wanted to let everyone know.

edit, ps note to Pete: Actually, I could rationalize the Barbs and Cain by pretending that they were caged up with a ward that prevents casting a portal - though that's a stretch to be charitable. If I were to pick a personal annoyance, though, it would still be Tyreal's intro speech in Act 4. After the arch-angel has said "you must face it alone" and "I have been forbidden to aid you", he ends with "May the Light protect you and the powers of Heaven shine upon your path". What?!? But you are a power of Heaven you idiot!

Well, I had thought we might catch you up from last week, but I guess that will have to wait! smile

No slackers tonight, then, though I will be on with other chars anyway...

Slacker status: A short game, caught CH up to the rest of us and made a small amount of new progress, making our way through the Palace to the Arcane Sanctuary.

I seem to be doing this a lot lately, but again I must apologize for missing last night's gaming session. This time, it truly wasn't my fault - our RoadRunner (may the orcs who run it rot in hell!wink service went belly-up Friday afternoon, and didn't get restored until this (Monday) morning. At least, I hope it's still restored - it's been behaving very strangely of late.

Barring other ISP disasters, I plan on making the ET game on Tuesday!

Cheers,

The rest of us managed to axe the summoner and we're now at the Canyon of the Magi. If you can make it that far on your own, great, but if not no problem, we can catch you up next time! smile

I won't be available for Slackers on the 27th. I'm on staff for a music festival this weekend, and I'll just be packing up by the time the game starts.

p.s. Does this look like a chef's hat to anyone? :chef:

This sounds interesting.

What is this music festival for and where is this taking place?

How about them apples? They say they do not fall far from the tree, and that one can spoil the whole bunch. Well I say we may not all be rotten, but we are all spoiled.

It's the "21st Annual Summer Solstice Folk Music Dance & Storytelling Festival" in Southern California.

http://www.ctmsfolkmusic.org/festival/2004...ice/default.asp

"The CTMS Summer Solstice Festival is unlike most other folk music gatherings. In addition to concerts, jam sessions, and story swaps, the CTMS Festival is a "teaching festival". Musicians, dancers, singers and storytellers from all over the world come to share their knowledge and experience. You will find classes on everything from playing fiddle to vocal warm-ups to contra-dancing and more!"

If you want to see the range of workshops, here is the schedule:

As you might guess, I'm the sort of oddball who occasionally like to make my own entertainment as opposed to being passively fed it all the time. (Perhaps that's not so odd in this forum. smile ) I still haven't managed to convince Nick - he does the storytelling area - to have a workshop on storytelling for RPGs. And he's still running a Warlock campaign. (Warlock is a variant of D&D invented at CalTech several centuries ago.)
