[SPOILER] Shaka of Inca - gingereagle1969 & Sandover

turn 98

Metal Casting in & revolted to Organized religion this turn to build city improvements faster in the Buddhist towns, we wil have those Courthouses [queued in every town] out soon. Tech rate turned down to 0% to bank some gold, Horse-Back Riding will still complete in 3 turns.

Building Workshops in CazarDeAmor to hopefully regain the hammers lost to Cottages. This city will then go on a Worker/Settler building programme after the queued improvements are in. After Horse-Back Riding, will tech towards Replaceable Parts so we can make use og the tundra tile near this city.

OK .. turn 100 update

Not too much to report - 3 more BigWaynes and UltimoMomento founded near Malakai [bit of a stretch, but there's some good resources there, and, with the route being roaded, this will provide more trade routes due to the open borders]

now the screenshots [edited on photobucket to hide map info]

First, the city list - Courthouses to pop up all over the place.

Next up, Finance & Civics. As a Thatcherite, it pains me to admit it, but this empire could do with State Property, so we'll have to get Communism at some stage. Another good one would be Police State - this is Shaka's favourite civic as an AI - which means we also need Fascism as well [some would say that's a lot closer to Thatcherism, but, to be honest, Thatcher didn't go far enough in my eyes!!]

Well, that's enough politics .. military up next. I'd really like to upgrade those Warriors & Quechuas, but we can't afford it. They'll hopefully be enough cannon-fodder when the inevitable attacks come in.

Religion - we're not a founder, but we are gaining advantages of having Kyan's faith.

Are we near victory? No, far from it, we're half Kyan's score and half his Domination. And we've got half Tredje's culture .. OK, move on, nothing to see here, or in the Demographics either.

Before we look at the cities, let's talk tech. Once Horse-Back Riding is in, I'll set things to tech towards Replaceable Parts - using CivFanatics as a guide, this will entail:

Guilds -> Machinery -> Banking -> Paper -> Printing Press -> Replaceable Parts [I think that's the order the game will do them in]

And finally, the cities:

The eagle-eyed may have spotted a spare Settler. It's heading to found "GoodStuff" in the west.

23 forest tiles. That's how many are being used across your cities. The optimal amount is 0.

Those trees should've been chopped down for production boosts and replaced with cottages ages ago. Lack of workers has hurt you pretty badly this game, to the extent that I'm willing to say that you've been crippled because of it.

10 workers for 8 cities just won't do the trick unless you're playing an archipelago map. Take that as a lesson for the future.

yeah, but by removing the forest in favour of a cottage, in most cases, removes the hammer. this makes for horrendous build times - case in point see CazadorDeAmor yikes

Let's face it, when we saw the map did we really think anyone else but Kyan, with India, would win? Wish I'd gone Aztec or Zulu now to have really rushed Whosit out of the game duh [or even taken Kyan out early shhh] but that would have left Tredje's with Pacal of Inca, which would have been a lot worse! nono

yeah, more workers needed ... however something else always seems to take precedence cry

turn is in ... let's see what I can salvage ... and has Whosit declared war yet?

Removing the forest gives you 30 hammers instantly (post maths) that can be spent on workers and settlers. Better to have those 30 hammers as soon as possible rather than at 1 per turn for ever. This game is a bout snowballing since once those hammers have been turned into a worker - they produce a hell of lot more in terms of cottages, more chops - stuff etc.

Do you whip much? The whip can also provide a lot of production in hammer starved cities and is very efficient at converting food into hammers when compared to worrking a plains forest or grass forest - even more efficient than mines in some cases.

true, but once the tile is improved there's no more hammers being produced, the forest does not grow back so you can't get those 30 hammers again

umm ... can't whip as no longer in Slavery ... took Serfdom so the workers are quicker

turn 101

OK, Horse-Back Riding in at end of turn .. also a Great Scientist appeared in WakaWakaShaka - options: Academy in SheWolf, take Alphabet [think it's needed for the next tech pathing] or have a Golden Age [not really wanting to revolt again though]

In other news ... OMG! Tredje has settled in our square!!!

I know we don't have a settlement agreement, but still ... cheek!!!

He wanted a NAP a short while ago, maybe I can get a clause to stop further advances, plus get "GoodStuff down.

sent the following, with the above file:

Quote:Greetings Tredje

Not heard back from you regarding the NAP extension.

Maybe turn 150 is too far ahead, so how about turn 125?

Also, I notice you've settled within what should be my sovereign square [see attached file]. I trust this is the extent of your intended illegal expansion as I have dot-mapped for 2 cities in that vicinity. So, as part of the NAP, I would like to draw that line as it is with you settling no further eastwards into my territory. And, as we will soon have a land border, have open borders.

Regards

GingerEagle

regarding the great scientist:

offer in from Kyan [he spotted it in the event log]: he wants to buy it for 5 fast workers.

well ... we need workers, and these will be 'super-fast' workers due to serfdom ... although the original 2 he offered [effectively in exchange for the work-boat] have yet to materialise.

I'll send it to SheWolf & wait to see what appears along the road.

turn arrived with a response from Tredje:

Quote:Hi Gingereagle,

That is odd. I was sure I had written back to you and agreed to a NAP until T150. I must have forgotten.

I can agree to a an OB arrangement between our two empires, but I would like to include a clause that prohibits a player from sending his units into the other player's territory. Is that okay with you?

I can also agree to refrain from any eastwards expansion.

- Tredje

and my reply:

Quote:Greetings Tredje

That is most acceptable.

Regarding the 'right of passage' clause, I will keep a close eye on my wandering Warrior, 2Pac01 [the heroic one that found your borders], to ensure he does not trespass.
