Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

Ministry of Silly Walks

Our team scored a major victory this turn. We got industrial era skins on our tile improvements, cities, and workers before Team #1.

A couple things of note in the event log. Sulla flipped into another golden age:

Undoubted courtesy of that earlier GS and the Economics Great Merchant.

Team #2 birthed Leonidas courtesy of Shoot:

Maybe he'll get around to updating you guys on how that battle went :neenernee

My long overdue comments on Team #1's graphs.

I legitimately have no idea how Sulla's research is so high. However, they're not as far ahead as I anticipated. WK and Sunrise are roughly equal. Speaker's GNP is low enough that me and Shoot's combined research rate is somewhat competitive to Team #1's. Still, with Sulla in another golden age and expanding their beaker lead, things don't promise to get better on this front anytime soon.

We've stayed well ahead of Team #1 for most of this game in crop yield, which should, in theory, eventually start paying off in beakers. That steep dip in my graph is a combination of running lots of specialists, working lots of mines, and losing two cities. cry

We're looking pretty strong on the MFG front thumbsup

The story here has been of my meteoric rise in power, combined with Shoot and WK's continued military expansion. Sulla has begun mobilizing only recently. WK's power is surprisingly low, thus our plan to take down elo hell.

By the by, Team #4 just birthed a Great Scientist.

Quite serendipitously, I sat down at my computer and checked civstats just as Team #1 was playing. Speaker, however, did not appreciate the audience.

Team #1 has researched replaceable parts. ETA Rifling: Turn 164

WK, can you give us a sit-rep on how things would look for the proposed strike on elo hell if they get rifles in that time-frame?

I'm hoping I can be in the position to attack elo hell in 7-8 turns. My best stack defenders for the cannons are muskets and pikes so if sunrise starts drafting Redcoats like mad in that time frame I don't see how I can keep my cannons intact. A C1 Redcoat (drafted, worse if built by hand) and a C2 pinch/shock Cav both have odds on a Gur2 musket and a formation pike on a hill, although thankfully I have odds on the same promoted Cuirassiers. Since Cavs flank cannon, it all depends on how many units sunrise has near his cap once I show my force.

Speaker's eight horse mounted stack in Parley has disappeared. He may have loaded up. However, given the fact that five of them would be embarked on galleys, I doubt this is the case. More likely, Speaker moved them out of the city to stage against Shoot or Team #2. My instinct is that he is gunning for Maurice Levy.

I know I've already used this meme at least a couple times, but:

Shoot, could you prepare a back-up 8th university in case the city falls at any point during the construction of Oxford?
