Whale Watching

Home sweet home! Back from a 2 day unplanned road (and ferry) trip down to Victoria. What a beautiful city, wonders that it remains unspoiled since I first visited more than 20 years ago. I thought I'd share some pictures with you, pictures not of its landscape although you can get glimpses of it in the background. These pictures are some of the 60 Orcas that will be auctions off in November. Some of these will be up for bids at the "The Orca Auction & Gala Dinner", and some will be up for online bids. I wish I had known about this "Orcas In The City" event before I went, I would have made more time to hunt down every statue. The hunt itself would have been a very nice tour to the various attractions in the city.

Thanks KoP ! I had not known about the whales in Victoria.

Orcas in the city beats the heck out of moose in the city, as we had here in 2001.

That depends a little on where you sit. I'd probably pay to see a moose running around a city. :D

For many rampant moose (is the plural meese, like mouse/mice?) try Bamff in Alberta. As in Afica where elephants have the right of way, tour buses, at least our hotel bus yield the right of way to large animals, in this case moose, who enjoy the residential Lawns of Bamff.

Works better without http:// x 2. crazyeye

I've seen cow exhibitions like that. Nah, I'd pay to see a real live moose wandering around, not a sculpture. thumbsup

I was going to head for Banff and Jasper but I didn't have much notice and it would have been too rushed for the time I had, even though I have been kinda planning on a Banff/Jasper photo trip. But 3 days isn't going to do for a photo trip. Right now would be the perfect time to visit Banff/Jasper for its Autumn colors plus the bonus of a few snow capped mountains. Ah well, that's the price you pay for being the boss.

HERE is the proper url to Moose In The City.

And HERE is a page with some MITC pictures. I must say they look better than I imagined, and some are quite humorous.

Oh yeah, I was going to include This Link for those of you who want to see more of the whales.

Yup smile Though it's hard to tell the sign on a small print, that's orca #4 in my photos.

There were a lot I wanted to see but we (KoP n PoO) were too rushed. We had about 5 hours free time and part of it spent trying to get in the Eternal Egypt Exhibit and Mysteries of Egypt IMAX. Missed that too, by 10 minutes both times frown

Hmm, maybe we should just fly there in a couple of weeks...
I now have connection to fly for free anywhere WestJet flies, so I am thinking of plane hopping adventures (2 day trips) wink

I am sorry to know that you missed that exhibit. frown We were able to catch it (twice even, with friends in tow the second time) when it was here at the Royal Ontario Museum. If you have a way to get back for another try, it is well worth it, and worthy of at least a couple hours perusal. At least you won't have the problem I encountered in the first visit - bored kids racing ahead and causing general mayhem while you scrutinize the items. For some reason, they were more anxious to spend time in the 'Weapons and Armour' section of the Museum. rolleye
