I'll have three cities and Stonehenge before my second worker! Say hello to the noob!

Next turn I'll settle my third city and finish Stonehenge, if no one finishes it this turn first. I don't think people would risk going for Stonehenge with a CHA/IND India in play, but, oh, well...
I can see Rego's research and he's about to found Buddhism by taking Meditation. Hopefully he doesn't proceed to Priesthood, but I think he will. Getting Stonehenge + GLHouse + Oracle is pratically impossible, I think, but I'd very much like to. With the amount of water we have, maybe I should have gone for Oracle + Colossus instead of the GLHouse, but now things are already done.
Buddhism and Hinduism found in distant lands. Buddhism is likely Regoarrarr. Stonehenge built at EoT. 3 cities.
By the way, regarding Ruff's comment in the Tech Thread, I have contact with everyone but Pindicator and Pindicator sent the save with a "Congrats" in it. Everybody knows it was me that build the Stonehenge.
![]() Wasn't it so very obvious that I was going to build it?
Obvious, but to me the nice bit was managing to keep up in expansion while you did it, a city + Stonehenge is a nice turn. What are you going to use the prophet for?
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.
I write RPG adventures, and blog about it, check it out. What are you going to use the prophet for? Yeah, Stonehenge was mostly built with overflow + production while growing the city, so it didn't slow me down that much. What will certainly slow me down is the Great Lighthouse. My second city is strictly dedicated to it, not to other useful things. For example, scooter already has at least 3 workers (with 2 cities) and is cottaging his lands like hell. I still don't have pottery (and no idea how I'll build granaries ). My big advantage is the improved happy cap, since this map lacks happy resources, so even though I'll start cottaging late, I'll work more cottages than the others. What allowed me to take such a wonder heavy gambit is the lack of contested land (all the contested land is yucky jungle) and the power of the Fast worker. I have 1 worker for three cities, and I'm only working unimproved tiles for micro reasons (the forest in the previous screenshot was worked to allow a double whip on the lighthouse when i reach size 4) or in the new city, while I chop a WB. That's really nice. What I'm a little unsure about is the decision of getting TGLh instead of oracle + Colossus. The Oracle could give me my precious double speed forges and I think I'll be working a fair number of water tiles soon too. besides, I could focus on GPro points in teh capital, instead of messing two cities GP pools. The thing is, I might actually be able to take the Oracle. I think everybody expects me to go for it, since it synergizes so well with my traits (exactly like Stonehenge -> I built it so early because I could and I wanted to, not because I was afraid someone would try to steal it from me). By the time they realize I got the GLh, maybe I can have time to steal the Oracle too. We'll see. I can see rego's research and he went for sailing after Meditation, so that says so,ething about it... Not holding my hopes high, though... (Another thing that speaks in my favour is the total lack of marble and stone in the lands near the starts). Regarding the GPro, I have a feeling that I'll end up settling it. I'm considering trying a differente play style here and settling the GP might be an idea in that direction. Again, we'll see...
I'm going for the Oracle. Brace yourselves...
I'm likely to lose it (and get way behind the oposition), but I figured that, since Rego isn't going for priesthood after his religion, there's a good chance the other religion techer will do the same. Besides, I still trust everyone will believe I'm going for the Oracle. I think I can have it built just a few turns after TGLh, hopefully it'll be enough. |
