How are leader/Civ selection gonna work? Qgqqqq going to act as judicator?

Since this is a greens game, perhaps first 3 choices submission will work best.

I'm willing to do so.
As for maps, I wouldn't be giving you a hand made one, I can either provide a lightly edited mirrorloaand (to add ffh 2 features like ancient towers, forest, lairs, dungeons etc.) a more heavily edited mirrorland (still mirrored but with stuff like bqrb cities held demons, non vanilla nodes, etc.) or another script (something like highlands or lakes (pb1/9 style) or bigandsmall which would be edited, but largely for interestingness, not balance.

A map similar to the basic idea as the ISDG (lakes just big enough to be shipworthy) might be the most interesting.

All I know is that I want Perpentach. twirl

In FfF/EitB, it's not common to pick mis-matched leaders and civs like it is in Civ IV, is it? I wasn't sure if that's what your question is referring to, or if you are just referring to how some civs have several leader options.

He was probably referring to the latter. It isn't very common to split up leaders and civs, partially because there's some weirdness involved and partially for balance reasons.

About my play time - Unless something special is happening I can play evenings, typically 19-22:30 GMT, from time to time some other times, but never at work (07.00 - 15.00 GMT) (workdays). So I presume this means one turn a day, barring some 'blitz' sessions (would likely have to be 19-22.30 GMT). Is this enough or will that slow down game too much?

How hard is it to find people to play a turn or two? Ded-lurkers or is it possible to get someone to play 2-3-4 turns with a set of instructions if needed?

About diplomacy, I prefer less but full diplo is still okay. I've usually got plenty of travelling time where I can check & answer mail. Just not check into game at same time.

And was wondering myself about leaders - I have a few I like to play, and some I dislike, so I'd not like a random pick.

About map - I prefer PvP and not PvE, so I vote no pre-placed stuff for a first game.

And is there anything (PBEM for dummies-style) I should know? Any smart stuff ppl do to get & play&pass on the save quickly?

Okay. I guess I can be someone's dedlurker/secondary turn player.

Ditto. Except more lurking, less playing... And exceedingly less helpful than Tasunke.

Yeah I can take the civs and dole out leaders, restricted is traditional.
Id like to know map desires WITHIN 12 HOURS is you want it done this week.
Trust me, pre-placed stuff/fighting barbs is very much what ffh is about, although I would be heeding on the more cautious side of things for stuff (I.e. all batrbs would either have unit ai unknown(or held) or animal so (doesn't enter borders) and those with animal would be no stronger then traditional barbs (it would be stuff like weak succubi instead of lizardmen and so forth.
I doubt Id be able to create a map like the ISDG. - I have no plans to hand craft so the only changes to a random map will be barbs features and resources (ok maybe some land change but not much.)
My general plan is to spend 2-3 hours on this map tomorrow (waitangi day) and post it in the lurker thread for a start of friday.
Just FYI molach, a lot of ffh mechanics depend upon randomness and barbs, meaning it is unlikely to be balanced (which is why we've rarely had a mirrored pbem).
Have you played mirrorland though?
It has a similar setup with waterways to the isdg map.
