Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

Solitude, with it's resident barbarian.

The city-state quest barbarian camp.

And the barbarian camp I wish became a city state quest.

Also, as you can see, there's a bit of unit activity down here, both for me and pindicator. I'm defintely happy with my start location over his, that's for sure.

Whiterun has been founded.

Wow, why did it take me until now to figure out your naming scheme?
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

Stupid barbarian left the camp.

So Monaco is my ally for 1 turn.

The source of the pests harassing my capital.

Would be nice to get a quest to kill that camp in the next handful of turns. Same with the one by La Venta.

And lastly, the demographics.

I'm on full growth this turn since I have Monaco's silk, hence breaking even on happiness. The marble should be hooked up shortly too. I'm not sure whether I should build a 4th worker in Solitude after the current worker build + the free one from citizenship. I'm leaning towards building another settler and ToA before that, claiming the centre of this part of the pangaea.

I don't think that works right, if Monaco is at exactly 60/60 influence now. The influence decrements during the city-state's turn, which happens before your next production phase and the happiness checks.

Really? That's annoying. If that's the case, I should be able to easily confirm that from my culture value next turn, since the culture would also be added after the CS's turn?

In hindsight, what I should've done last turn was use my CB, Archer and Windhelm to bombard the archer protecting his worker, and steal it.

Instead, when I realised I could do it this turn there was a spearman, and luck was not on my side.

1 measly HP more damage, and that worker would've been mine. Oh well, at least I have my 2nd and 3rd worker coming online next turn.

Also, confirmed that I sabotaged myself with rearrangement of tiles for the whole CS happiness thing. Very annoying.

It was already strongly suspected, but 3 of the 9 city states are now confirmed as being Religious. I do wonder where Wittenburg actually is though, considering that it seems as if I've found the edge of the continent here.

That's convenient, the turn after I clear out the camp too. I think I'll just snipe that and make Valletta my friend.

In other news,

Marble hooked up in Solitude, so some boosts to my ToA build.

Also, made a proposal to Ichabod for him to declare war on pindicator for 25 turns (IIRC) of Salt. I imagine a 2 front war will drive pindicator to sign peace once the forced 10 turns at war are up.

La Venta finally offered their quest to kill the barbarian encampment.

Ichabod's settler that I will kill if it interferes with my settling plans.

And a look at the diplo screen, showing my 3 CS friends.
