I played but did not end turn. I'll let you work out the details for the Failgold Funding. You may end turn whenever. Please don't move any units without consultation.

Oh, and we make 75bpt at 0%, so over 6 turns that's 550 beakers over the 6 turns until the GP popps. That'll be quite a head start. If we want to run breakeven for a turn or two we can.
Some diplo stuff (spoiled for to reduce clutter).
Jowy offered 20gpt for Economics. I accepted because why not? The gold will be handy and I like keeping Jowy friendly and not squeezing every last penny out. He did trade us his only source of Iron back in the day after AT canceled his trade. Commodore researched Astronomy last turn and offered Astro for MilTrad + Economics. I refused because I don't want to give up our monopoly on Cuirassiers (I think I spell Currasiers about 6 different ways in this thread ). I countered with Astro + 20gpt for Steel.
You have freedom to do whatever you think best with the city builds with the exceptions only of Doughnut and Porcupine. I'm going to go Drydocks > Frigates at Doughnut and Drydocks > Frigate/Curassier at Porcupine (which should give us infinite 1-turn units).
We have enough land units now, and frigates will secure us on the Commodore front and the 2metra front (I can park 3-promo frigates on whichever tiles 2metra can access via fort ).
Quote:Did you move the stack of knights into Postos? If so, why? Please do not move units when you log in. I specifically wanted 2metra to have a chance at seeing those knights this turn. I can still move them up to where he'll see them this turn so it's not too big a loss.I addressed this in my first post, Commodore could 1-turn Potos Village and we had insufficient force to stop him. If you think its safe without, then I'm sorry, but I don't/didn't trust him not to take it. Quote:Oh, and we make 75bpt at 0%, so over can.On this subject, do you want to be emphasizing scientists for the next 6 turns so we put max beakers in? I'd rather find some way to get sufficient hammers into the Temple, myself, because the limiting factor is that only one city can build each wonder a turn. What happens to the hammers invested once SM finishs? Somethings telling me they count as failgold still...

URGENT: Bigger is researching SM, due 4 turns.
Is it worth stealing instead? Fortunately, Biggers 100% GNP is less then ours, he doesn't have a GA (that we know of) and has only slightly more gold. Also, he offered MT for Corp which...I don't think we want (quite apart from obsoleting TGL and being slightly less beakers... ).

He's been trying to offer Corp for a long time, and I keep refusing. We get negative benefit from it since the majority of our cities are coastal. We'll trade or steal it when we move one to assembly line.
Quote:I addressed this in my first post, Commodore could 1-turn Potos Village and we had insufficient force to stop him. Sorry, I missed that part. I trust Commodore. I do not trust 2metra. Quote:URGENT: Bigger is researching SM, due 4 turns. I think our only option is to continue as planned. A Counterespionage mission from him would knock out stealing as an option. He doesn't have enough gold to burn through SM > Communism. We keep trickling beakers into SM until we pop the GA and then decide whether Communism is still and option. By the time our GP is born we'll know if can beat us. It Bigger has snapped up Communism then we hit Assembly Line instead and take Azzaland back from Bigger. Also, hitting Assembly line would give us more flexibility regarding the timeline, so we could maximize the failgold builds in a few more cities before completing the wonders. I'd still like to try Communism if it's an option. Maybe Bigger will trade SM to us after he researches it ( ).Quote:I'd rather find some way to get sufficient hammers into the Temple, myself, because the limiting factor is that only one city can build each wonder a turn. What happens to the hammers invested once SM finishs? Go for it if you think you can make it pay off. And no, the hammers just disappear. The build is no longer available as an option so I doubt we'd even get failgold if someone else completed the wonder.
Yeah I tested that it sucks.
We can still get 401g of failgold from that though, I'll post (revised) plans for all three soon. Unfortunately I think our best bet is to start research nowish - like you said the limiting factor is the research, and I think the failgold can contribute a lot to covering expenses.

I'm reluctant to allow this because it will slow down development of a good city site by about 12-15 turns. That means that each future pop will come 15 turns later so I'm pretty sure we'll be giving up a lot more than we'll be gaining. Ok, I'll run the numbers for if we start research now and see what the outcome looks like. |
