Good job Bigger! I don't think I can claim that much credit for this victory as you took us from midtable to this position.
You did a great job and I am glad I had you as a teammate

don't be absurd. you made some mistakes, but I made a ton of them as well! I think our victory was a combination of just making less mistakes than everyone else, a great civ/leader combo, and taking advantage of a great opportunity (joining in on the cornflakes dogpile just turned the game around). we won as a team!
You did good getting us started. For one thing, I never would have moved the capital. I would have settled in place and regretted it the whole game - the place where you moved the capital is *so* much better than settling in place would have been

ok some final pictures I took after cornflakes told me in game he was conceding. I think it was pretty hopeless at this point.
FYI, he thought I was 10-15 turns from tanks. I was actually 5 turns, then probably 5-6 turns from flight, and another 7 turns from radio and bombers. I was going to revolt to theocracy once I got tanks, police state once I had bombers, and just pump out units until I could conquer everyone (jowy, then cornflakes first).

this was a couple of turns before it ended. so 17exp tanks once I was in theocracy, 1 every turn . fun.

eventually I was going to build maoi here.
this was fun, once I figured out the game was over I used all my spies to steal gold from cornflakes:

I got about 800, which is about 1.4 turns of 100% research, very useful. had more on the way too

eps against cornflakes. as you can see, I have tremendous vision. I'm pretty sure I have "investigate city" on every city on the planet. Going to be pretty hard for anyone to surprise me . I put a bit of economy into eps earlier, but most of it is passive eps - from building jails, intelligence center, and security bureau everywhere with decent hammers.
I had 4-5 more turns of building in 80% of these cities, then military for the rest of the game.

this guy is awesome, he could have sneaked deep through the lakes to surprise cornflakes in a couple of different spots.

post-golden age. pretty dominant, I think.
3 in top 5, hehe.

btw, a wtf moment a turn or two before the end:
global warming this early? This is only 2 turns after I *started* building coal plants. its 1730 ad, for good grief, we just got railroad 10 turns or so ago, and no one has any air power or tanks, no nukes or anything like that. seems really early to me.

I actually had it hit well before that, 1600ish. Deserted one of my better tiles.

Im likely going to just found the ivory city 1NE of where originally planned and pump culture on him from both sides. he should have kept the original spot, imo.
I had no idea that AT was going to die as quickly as he did. I have little vision on your attack and was surprised when you immediately capture the city to the west or I would certainly have kept the city. In replanting I wanted to try and grab the Iron since I STILL did not have my own native source! I was forced to trade/beg iron off people, and without Iron I couldn't build Cannon or Frigates.

Get some kind of sentry net ready up there to give a good amount of warning. A strike down from that direction could hit our core quickly
BINGO! I was actually planning an attack with Tanks through this route when I made the chop. Often a turn saved on an invasion makes all the difference, and turns out I got the chop done just in time

ugh I spent way too long trying to deny you iron, you did a great job begging it off Jowy and AT... I think I gave up when you even got commodore to supply you, lol.
not the same thing, but I was going to be in the same situation in the modern era. I had one source of oil on land, too close to the Jowy border, and no sea oil.. I think everyone else had at least 2 oils (even though I had the largest land area). I also had no uranium, I think everyone else had at least one .

My research capacity was poor so I didn't want it as a prereq, and the direct benefits from Physics are exactly airships. Not too useful, and the 2-pop drafts of Infantry mean I wanted the food.

I had no natural oil except a sea source under culture pressure from 3 of 2metra's cities. My ONLY land-based source was south of BJ, buried deep in the ice at the far south AT's captured lands
