He made a decision that we should look for a permanent replacement. We looked for one, and we found one. Are you suggesting that we need to get permission from everyone on whether this specific person can play with us? Cause if we players get to vote on who we play with, I suggest we kick out NH for sucking all enjoyment out of this game before it has even begun.

There is the decision to replace the player and then there is the decision of who the replacement will be. You made the latter decision, not the admin and you didn't give any opportunity for other players to comment. I don't care for this particular decision, but I have absolutely no faith that you will not do similarly for future significant decisions, deciding them by yourself when you have no business doing so.
There was also no need for you to unpause the game and create artificial time pressure for ad hoc to play when he can unpause for himself when he was ready to play. Surely he wouldn't have any trade windows on turn 2.
I'm surprised you haven't already decreed that I've been kicked out of the game. Or that you've won the game already and everyone has conceded.

Welcome ad hoc and thanks for taking over. Glad to see you here.
Watch your step and ignore the idiot and the robot. We do.

He asked for an unpause, maybe he doesn't have a pause button in his keyboard. I was polite and did it for him so we could get the game rolling. Players have never gotten a say in who they play with unless it's a special case, such as a spoiled lurker taking over a civ. We didn't vote whether to accept new sign ups when we set up this game, why should we vote now? Why is it so hard for you to just chill out and have an enjoyable game in the RB spirit?

I forgot about that part of his post, my mistake. Why shouldn't we give an opportunity for people, including the admin, to comment on such a significant decision? There could very well be a problem with ad hoc playing that you hadn't foreseen. And during sign ups people could see who the players are and decide for themselves whether to play.

Fine. Send a reload request to Sunrise. We will have Ichabod perform a thorough investigation on whether Ad Hoc is the rightful heir to FlugAuto's PitBoss XVI slot and whether he possesses the abilities required from a PitBoss player. Ichabod will come up with the results for us in a week or two, and we will hold a secret ballot vote to decide whether Ad Hoc is the rightful heir to FlugAuto's PitBoss XVI slot. Were this vote a tie, we will draw purple rocks to decide the outcome. If Ad Hoc wishes, he can also choose trial by combat, where he may be represented by a champion of his choosing, in a duel to death against Ichabod's champion. One way or another, we will have a replacement worthy of praise.

Throw in some rainbow-colored vuvuzelas and you've got a deal.

What have I done! All I wanted was a game of Civ, just the usual sort of thing, a few turns putting cities in the wrong places and building the wrong things at the wrong time and then to finally get stomped by someone immeasurably better than I.
But instead I find myself in the middle of a fight which really I haven’t got the time or inclination to get involved in and which frankly has spoilt the game for me even with me only pressing enter twice.
I think the best thing is for me not to play and for the players to find someone else who they are all happy with. There are plenty of players out there who are more than capable and perhaps a consensus can be found without resorting to ill-advised insults and swearing between fellow players.
I’m sorry to the other players who are going to be delayed in playing but I play Civ for fun and this has really left a sour taste in my mouth

Ok, so let's try and organize things a bit. It seems that the consensus was that flug_auto should be replaced, at least everyone that commented/voted said this. Does anyone have a problem with this or want to suggest a different course of action? If so, feel free to PM me or post here, whatever you prefer.
There was a thread started in the Civ General Discussion forum to find a replacement for flug's spot. Ad_hoc volunteered himself to take over in that thread and he confirmed his interest here. I think that the best course of action to keep the game going is to allow Ad_hoc to replace flug, since there was enough problems with the game start already. Anyone disagrees with this or wants to add an opinion? I'm not going to force everyone to vote here, so if I don't hear any objections in 24h, the game will go on with Ad_hoc replacing flug_auto. I think that's enough time for people to chime in with their opinions and maybe we can hear something from flug until there (I don't like the idea of doing all this without hearing from him, but hopefully he'll understand, even if he ends up replaced).
Someone that's able, please pause the game. I now it's a drag to have to wait even more to play the supposedly fast first turns of a game, but I think it's better if we have this reasonably sorted out before going forward.
