Is the unquoted text above what you sent to Rowain MJW, or is that just your thoughts?

You got it. Super busy for the next two hours, but then I'll jump in to the waters.
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

Thanks. Please send me and brick your contact information if you want to. This would make it clear to other players that we are working together so I don't get an unfair advantage. (players not knowing that you are helping me)

I've PMed you and BRick. What is going on so far? A possible non-aggression pact with Austria? Anything else?

Thanks Mervo.

Due to the fact that Gaspar is spaming Scooter's thread I've got a bad feeling about him. I'll probably stick with Rowain. My orders would be:

Fleet NAP-->TYS
Army ROM-->APU
Army VEN holds.

I want two centers from my part if Rowain gets Russia on our side. Greece and some other random SC. (-: If we fail to get Russia on our side I feel we would not have enough control to say who should get what in advanced.

Here is some other CC:

Salutations Your Majesty,

I am TT of Russia and thought I would just send a welcome message to you.

Italy and Russia can turn out to be pretty good allies given the right circumstances. I know from my time playing Italy that its a challenge but a fun one. You effectively can alter the balance of power in one or both major theaters of war.

Its much too early to think of full scale plots and attacks, but I see that our best chance of helping each other is to have a holiday together in the beautiful foothills of Austria-Hungary...

Well if you fancy a chat/plot/scheme then feel free to send an email my way, I'm usually pretty good at responding.

Keep in touch,
TT

I said in reply:

Do you have an alliance with Turkey or something?

MJW,

Greetings, and first off good luck with Italy. Definitely one of the more challenging nations to play with. I guess you do at least get a few choices, and most people want to be your friend, so that's a perk.

Anyway, obviously as Turkey, the last thing I want to see is a Lepanto opening from you. And of course, Rowain is virtually guaranteed to be encouraging you to go that route. I don't think it will surprise you that I'd much prefer your units either heading west or moving onto Austrian centers than sailing into Turkish waters smile. Anything in particular that would entice you to not do that to me?

Thanks,

scooter - Turkey

I said trying to string him along:

Sorry for being a bit late. I check my email after loging-out. You could offer me a lot of supply centers and that would get me on your side. There's no way I could take out Austria by myself so you would have to help me too. But due to Turkey's position you would do that anyway. I would consider joining you if offer me at least two supply centers.

He probably caught me as Gaspar is spamming his thread. Not a good sign. I also that scooter and gaspar would never trust me.

I also sent a NAP to france as I feel both he and I would be too busy.

Lastly, Sunrise ripped off the emails as soon as I posted them in this thread. shakehead This was totally my fault and Brick PMed me to take them down; not just spam-bot proof them. Thanks Brick for not calling me out. smile

I don't think anything is set in stone yet because we have not yet agreed on the precise move orders. Which is part of the NAP.

Hey MJW, if you don't mind could you stick each individual message in quotes? It makes them easier to follow.

Much easier. And it'd allow us to also differentiate your commentary from your messages.

I'm saddened. So many posts in your thread and you haven't got around to greeting me yet frown
Maybe you were waiting for me to initiate? Hope you don't mind the slight delay if that was the case smile

How are you settling in? Had chats with anyone else so far? Specifically Cyneheard or dtay, I'm trying to keep feelers out for if they're working together to hit poor old Germany.

For myself, there hasn't been much. Short chat with Rowain, he hasn't mentioned anything of plans other than a generalised "AG are better off not fighting early" which I wholeheartedly agreed with.

Hope to hear back from you soon :D

- Matt

MJW Wrote:Hello Mr. Anderson,

I really like your message. I cannot see how we can work together yet so there is nothing to talk about. Of the western powers Italy can only attack France.

Farewell

Matthias Welter

I also sent orders to Brick in case I forget.
