I received a message from Austria, saying basically nothing because there's nothing to say. So I replied also saying nothing since there's nothing to say.
My near term goal is to ally with one of France or Germany and kill the other (shocking ingenuity there, I know). I prefer Germany, because I think the German-British alliance is more stable (and more English-tilted) than the British-French alliance. So I sent out feeler emails to both proposing friendship.
My belief anyway is the German-France alliance is the worst of the 3 possible Western-Triad resolutions, so it should be reasonably easy to convince one of the two to join with me rather than each other. We'll see (or maybe we won't) if Matt and Cyneheard agree.

I'm unfortunately on another traveling-weekend, so its stretching me thin at the moment to just keep up with all my games properly. Reporting is going to suffer until Sunday, and of the reporting I'm probably going to allocate most of it to PB13 since I think that's the most interesting/followed of the things I play in here.
I can type up my thoughts again tomorrow though, I find that easier than documenting/copying diplochats (which is weird now that I think about it, but w/e).

Developments:
Obviously I took ENG. This puts me in a good position vis a vi france. My goals are to obtain 2 supply centers and stop France from building a northern fleet. Unfortunately those two goals conflict.
I've been trying to cajole Germany into an alliance. Germany has been, well, I'd say cooperative but not committing. Matt's done nothing suspicious and has fed me some info on what France has told him, but (particularly before the fall 1901 move) has been rather... emptily encouraging? Our discussion since then was more in depth and felt like he was more committed to an anti-france alliance, but I'm still wary that this is all a giant ploy. Germany doesn't really have to materially commit to one side or the other until 1902, so I want to look like the strong horse once Matt has to actually choose. I also don't really have much of an option besides act as if Germany is on my side and hope for the best, since I haven't managed to have a conversation with France since I moved into ENG (and doubt it would be productive if we had it).
Russia is annoyed I'm moving an army up into NWY, but will have to deal with it. I'm not sacrificing optimality on the Western Front to avoid irritating a distracted power.
I should be able to report future turns in depth as they actually happen, this weekend has just been busy.

So which will get priority?
And what do you mean exactly? How could you prevent France getting a fleet without taking Brest? The obvious alternative method would require you talking with them, which you say isn't happening.

I probably care more about avoiding french northern fleets than 2 builds, and the other way is to get France to cover Bre himself so he can't build something there this next turn.

Well....again, how do you do that without talking to them?

Well as you can see from the gamestate thread, I guessed france's moves wrong. Blargh. I should have moved to Bre. This is going to depend a lot more on cajoling germany then.
On the other hand, France calling MY move correctly casts suspicion on Matt (G), since he could have told France the lines along which I was thinking. I didn't commit to this exact move but it was definitely a focus of G and my discussion.
Still in an ok position, but it could have been a great one.
