Looks like Commodore sent the starting save on its way dancing

When I get it, I'll post a pic to discuss scout movement, but I don't want to hold up the game for longer than 2-3 hours during the starting phase.
My objectives for scouting are hills (obviously) and avoid missing a seafood. Your thoughts?

Yep. For t1 if the warrior starts on the settler tile or 1S I think we should head for the hill 1S2W of the cap because it looks like there's more land on the other side so it should be quick. If it starts east of the starting tile than onto the wine I guess.

btw what is this talk about warrior start? Wasn't it scouts or did I miss something?

Edit: Warrior is probably better for us, as in that case it's totally safe to build the work boat early

no idea... Commodore is also talking about warriors in the tech thread, but I assumed scouts are RB standard... mostly though in order to avoid very early elimination of players which won't be an issue here.

We'll know in less than 24h I suppose smile

Here is the start, fog busted as well as I could.




I think it's deer hill or 1S of deer hill for the scout. I' leaning more on grass hill first, then the plains hill 1N of deer, if there is not something particularly interesting to be looked up at those grass hills (probably we'll have to?). Your thoughts?

Lurker question: Is it legal to post the save here / forward it to Adrien for him to have a look?


I'll be back in 1-2h, would be good to play then.

I say S of deer hill, then NW NE next turn. I should've asked for saves to be forwarded to me, it's usually the case when there's more than one player in a team. But for turn 1 you can just play it and put a screenshot up (maybe another one of the demos for which tiles everyone else is using and what techs they're likely to research).

Played, and scouting will indeed be an issue.




I would like to scout the peninsula to the east well, as that is the only place where a city could share the corn, but it would take 4 turns till we are on the deer hill. Still long before we get our first settler.


As the main turnplayer of this team is about the greenest conceivable by RB standards, the theme will be green things. I would be very happy if people posted their favourite green things to name our cities after!

Pfeffi is a very green and very dubious German liquor of high cultural relevance in the region I live in.








Demos lol. How come we get 16 GNP (I'm counting 9 commerce + 2 culture + 4 espionage = 15)? And how does someone get 20 (even with Cre; they don't have fishing...)? Someone else is doing the same thing as we do, but one EXP player is on 3 hammers, so either not building a worker or missing the bonus, or the program rounds (3*4+3)/4 = 3 noidea.
Soldiers is because of techs, right? Though I don't get how me and someone else has 2000, the highest is 4000 and average 3333??
Also note how our 4000BC stone age cavepeople get 88 years old on average smile


Ok that was a bunch of useless thoughts, but the turn was uneventful rolleye

Ah, analyzing a demo screen on turn one isn't always helpful but I'm sure I can squeeze some info from that.
20GNP is because of the tech bonus which brings it to 18 plus cre, so it's China researching a 2nd row tech. I would bet my computer on it being BW. Because there's someone else on 18GNP someone else is going for a second row tech, therefore Egypt or Sumeria is researching AH. The other maybe mining ? Could also be mysticism but I doubt it, even with the two civs that have the most incentive to go through that route. Agri and mining have the same beaker cost so if there's an increase in rival best power on that turn it means it's mining, else it's myst.
I think the average is actually truncated so yeah only Zara is using the 2/1/0. And soldiers is because Wheel is 4k while mining is 2k, rival average is (4k+4k+2k)/3=10/3=3.333

Oh, of course, we don't enter in that average, that explains it. The tech bonus is for techs no one else knows as yet? That sucks a bit because we won't get that for a while, but nothing we could do about it (I've been thinking, and Agri/Wheel really helps the early game. I didn't ever care about starting techs before reading threads here, and may not have valued it enough for the Carthage choice. Anyways, we've got a viable plan, so everything's gonna be fine
