Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

[SPOILER] Take my love, take my land, take me where I cannot stand

Turns 3 & 4

On T4, everyone but me got a score increase of 6, so I suspect they all had 3 foodhammer tiles with commerce that they could work, which I did not, and which gave them their first tech sooner. I won't finish Hunting until T6.

On the scouting frontier, looks like I have a nice pigs to pair with the gems.

I think my next move will be NE onto the forested grassland hill, then to begin to work my way WNW around my capital.

Turns 5 & 6

Still just scouting, and there's some nice land to my NE.

Also got Hunting this turn and started on Mining. Worker is built next turn.

Next decision is to go Warrior->Warrior->Settler, or Warrior->Settler? Probably the latter -- the gain of size 3 vs size 2 building a settler isn't significant until I get BW and can do some chopping, and one warrior should be able to cover both cities as I believe city #2 will be SW of the pigs on the lake, so it'll be very close to the capital.

Worker completed and moved over to the pigs to begin pasturing them. Started work on a warrior. Did some more exploring. Nothing too exciting. Found some decent city locations, too. As soon as my scout finishes his sweep around the capital I'll start dotmapping and see how it's going to lay out. Speaking of which, here's the current map:

In addition to the barb bear, there's a barb lion that wandered into the fog, so he's still out there too. So for now, my scout is sticking to forests and hills.

I'm 99% certain city #2 is going to be SW of the pigs between the lake and the ocean and city #3 will be up near wheat/stone. Going to have to really think about the area up NE though...lots of good resources and dividing them up well is going to be important. Of course I could go for one super-city that has all of them on the hill E of the pigs, but that typically doesn't seem the best way to go about it in MP games. Just from eyeballing it, probably two cities that overlap on the latitude that has the pigs.

Fortunately my capital has been able to work a 3f/1h tile (forested grassland with sugar), which has helped move things along fairly well for my builds.

Warrior completed and settler started. 7 turns total to build working the grassland pigs and the grassland forest sugar.

I moved the worker to mine the riverside plains hill, which will be what gets worked when Captain Mal hits pop 3.

Also, my scout got attacked by a barb lion while he was across a river on a forested grassland hill, and got taken to .1 health! 4.4% odds for the lion and he got hammered...observe:

Needless to say, he's currently healing on that FGH.

However, he did reveal some decent terrain north of the wheat/stone, so I believe I have a good spot for the next city in that area..I'll post a screenshot next turn as I forgot to take one this turn.

The last 4 turns have been me loading the game and hitting enter, so I haven't had anything to report. My scout is still healing, my worker was mining, and my settler is still building. My settler will be available T18, which will put my second city being built about T20.

The worker became available this turn after finishing the mine, and I'm still 3t from BW, so I moved him with the intention of building a road towards the new city, which will also put him on a forested grassland hill just in time to chop when BW comes in.

Yay! Finally got the next save. Yes, you're reading the dates right...2 turns in the last 6 days. rolleye

Anyway, settler was ready this turn so he started moving to city #2's location: 1SW of the pigs.

Scout is still healing, switched Capt Mal to a warrior (1 turn), then I'm not sure whether to go for another worker or another settler.

Also BW will be available next round, so we'll see where Copper shows up. Next up: Fishing. 3 seafood resources between my first two cities, so I want to be able to get them going.

Turn 19

Bronze Working was discovered, and lo there is copper within the radius of my next planned city!

I am planning my next city 1N of the stone/2W of the wheat.

Warrior finished this turn, and I'm going to build another, followed by a settler. It works out that it will take me 1t longer to get warrior + settler than just a settler, so I think that's worthwhile. My worker will be on the pigs for city #2 next turn.

I also started on Fishing, but had to go to 0% because I have no money and building city #2 (Zoe) gave me -1gpt. So I'll research it in 5 turns.

Got my 3rd warrior this turn -- Capt Mal is building a scout (1 turn) to grow to size 3, then building a settler next. I'm seriously behind on my scouting, so I need to get that moving better. My original scout was finally fully healed this turn and moved for the first time in like 8 turns. Luckily, he found a nice resource -- corn! And in a good place for my next city!

I took advantage of this to do a little dotmapping...I've still under-explored, so some things may change (particularly pink/purple), but I'm pretty sure about Red & Yellow.

I'll probably delay Yellow because it's not going to be an awesome city, but Red is going to be the next one. White will be a filler city later on (probably). Pink and Purple are preliminary, based on what I can see, but I'm a bit torn on how to do it. My instinct is to do Y and B, but X and A has a certain appeal to it, as well. It will make A awesome to start with three resources in the first ring, but X will be a lot less cool. Y & B splits the resources more evenly and allows the spices to be worked. I'll have to see what's in the fog to the SE and NE to really decide (which is where scout #2 is going).

Switching to 100% next turn and should have fishing in 3 turns.

Found some more good resources in the west:

Looks like right on top of the elephants might make a good city.

My scout was able to move once more before he was eaten by a bear. *plays taps*

I finished Fishing this turn (I ran 0% a turn longer than I intended), and I'll get worker #2 next turn, and settler #2 on T28, which means city #3 on T32.
