I wonder how Sullla and Speaker can still be so active during the lull period. Anyway, @Jabah:
I'll have to confirm once I can log back into the game, but I probably don't have Polytheism yet, so moving directly onto Literature won't happen. If that's the case, I'm probably better off doing Math > Currency anyway, so I can build some Markets while I'm teching Poly > Literature. Markets will be priority in high commerce cities (Imperial Center (gold), Byss, Nar Shaddaa, Ryloth), but I'll probably want them everywhere else, too, just because they're worth +1 happy, too (furs).
Also, having Math researched means that I can switch to Construction if needed, though I don't think I'd get there any time soon.
Doing straight for the Great Library is probably a bit too "pie in the sky," even for me! But I definitely want to take a shot at it. Hmm. There's probably a few forests I can still chop in Carida if needed, though I haven't been keeping good track of who has been picking up techs lately (Classical Era techs are 12 points, correct?), so I'm not sure if I'm racing anyone to the G. Lib.

Mostly lurkers asking when they'll get going again, and Dr. Nomadic spamming and trolling up the place.

And, yes, Classical Era techs are 12 points.
Markets are awfully expensive buildings, but if you're going to be running 20%-ish science, then they'll produce a fair number of beakers for you.
No, that was not a typo. http://dos486.com/civ4/index/bank.shtml
How many workers and how many cities do you have?
EDIT: That's T-Hawk's work on banks producing beakers.

Thank you for quantifying an aspect of the game that I imagine many realized, but didn't consciously analyze. I, at least, realized it wasn't a typo. But I hadn't thought of it in those terms before.
I suppose I'll want one in Carida anyway, since I get Forums.

6 cities; 7 Workers.

You forgot the most important part: And getting banned because he started turning stalkerish.

Wow. Usually I'm not interested in gossip, but since I can't read their thread right now, I'm curious. Well, good riddance. I saw enough of that guy in his threads on the main page. Geez. I could rant about it. But that's not what I'm here for! Anyway, it appears that my home connection is working again, so I'll make sure I can still log into the game, and review where I am at.
Anyway, at least this sheds some light on their post counts. Heh.
Oh, that reminds me: I'm sure you all recall the "accusation" Speaker made against me in the e-mail thread. OK, "accusation" isn't the right word, but my vocabulary is failing me at the moment. Anyway, he fingered me as the most likely to win in the event an Atlantis were dropped. That's all moot now that we have slaze to play the turns for the Inca, but it made me reconsider the idea that Sullla/Speaker actually believe that I'm a threat. When Nakor mentioned it, I believed it was just rhetoric to cover their rears. Since I'm still a "newb" at MP, it's an odd position to be in.
Well, if I do have an advantage, hopefully I have enough wits to make the most of it.

It's nothing spoilerish. He was spamming off topic crap and apparently posted some personal detail of RL sullla which was understandably worthy of the .

Suddenly so modest? It seems out of character

Surely I am nothing if not humble! Right? Besides, it goes without saying that ultimate victory will be mine. *Mwahahaha!*
Anyway, I logged in and snapped these. You lurkers still like pictures, right? If there's one problem I had with following PB1 (aside from half the players not updating their threads regularly), it's that I had a hard time picturing how everything fit together on the map. Regoarrarr posted a few nice overviews, which helped. Anyway, I took pictures of most of the known world, so here they are, clockwise. Unfortunately, I've never been able to get the Flying Camera to work, just the Satellite Camera, which isn't a huge improvement over the normal one.
The Magnificent Galactic Empire:
The Honorable Holy Roman Empire:
The Mysterious Romali:
The Evil Killer Angels:
The Trusty Greek Empire (my maps are very out of date):
The Friendly Rebel Alliance:
The Nasty Incan Empire (shrouded in darkness):
The Zulu Wastelands (no longer quite accurate as a name, since I understand that the Inca have spread their sphere of influence deep into the territory):
Korea doesn't get their own screenshot. You can see most of Seoul in the picture of the Empire. I also left out Centralia because, well, you get enough pictures of that island as it is. So, hopefully this is useful to those of you who can't log in to the game. Sorry that there's so many dark patches to my map. I was scouting for breadth, not depth. I'm hoping to fill in the blanks as quickly as possible.

I can see a Roman galley in the picture of the HRE. Is that the invasion force?

Yes, although there are actually 4 Galleys (with 8 Praetorians) there. Heading for Sullla. Not Nakor. They're still about 6 turns away. I wish that I could tell you have far away they are in units of time, but it looks like we're still a few days from resuming the game. I swear. I was going to eliminate the Inca, anyway, but maybe I should make the effort just so we don't have to deal with players dropping from the team again! Less at DSP, more at the original three. I'm still not really sure what happened. I'm pretty sure that Iamjohn dropped off the face of Civilization. Well. Maybe I shouldn't be mad at him, either. He could be dead for all I know, in all seriousness. Probably not, but it's not like I know. Yeah. Anyway. Them boats are gonna bring some pain. A'yup.
