T20
I suspect this is where my game starts to unravel. Why? Well its getting close to that time where I have to decide where to settle and I don't much like my options.
Here's a shot of my land and immediate surroundings. The original idea floated around was to settle 2N of my improved Wheat and use that to accelerate growth of the 2nd city. That's not a bad plan if the city can grow and work some useful tiles early on but that spot only has the dry Corn going for it before I get Iron Working so I'm inclined to explore other options.
Alternative #1
Settle 1S of the banana tile instead. This spot will grab the Pigs to the west when the capitals borders expand again in 30 turns but loses the ability to improve/work the Corn immediately so I think this option is weak.
Alternative #2
See the Wheat to the SE? Settle 1W or 1N of that. Either choice can work the capitals Sheep right away and then improve the Wheat which would be a 5/1/0 tile. The 1N option puts Stone in my borders and opens up the possibility of going for Stonehenge which I find an attractive proposition.
Alternative #3
Settle NW between the Dyes and the Corn. This spot is on a hill so is better vs the barbs that will begin to show up but otherwise this seems similar to Alt #1 in that their main selling point is dry Corn and not much else.
Alternative #4
Screw settling close to the capital! Go 2E of the Sheep! I can't justify settling here first, its the lowest food option early on and we won't get use out of the Sheep until getting borders popped and 3 Spices don't do anything until Calendar.
Alternative #5
Don't settle, play a OCC game. This has the upside of giving me less thingies to manage.
So I think exploring the alternatives has changed my mind and I think 1S of the Stone and going for Stonehenge is the new plan.
