[NO PLAYERS] Lurking Thread For Lurkers Still Baffled

Desert folklore is banned in this game for a good reason smile

I agree Azza has the weakest start, although he does have one extra fish still hidden in the fog, so that's 4 food resources in total (two requiring work boats). Both of his land based food will benefit from granary, which is slightly positive. Lack of rivers is what pulls his start back from the rest. Though having a seaside capital let's him use the powerful seaside trade routes to ship foor & production, if he goes that route.

Caledorn will need a lot of effort to be able to work those mining luxuries, so he probably would have benefited with moving his capital a bit. Without desert folklore his start isn't that great.

The map is generated randomly with the exception of filtering out the most unbalanced maps. In civ 5 that means rolling and checking maps for multiple hours, since 19 out of 20 starts contain marble or salts for one of the players, el dorado next door or are otherwise ridiculously unbalanced.

lol @ Ichabod for wanting to restart with Brazil. That's like shooting yourself in the foot, why? Three words: Jungle Start Basis

New starts are well balanced by Civ5 standards thumbsup

Well at least I know why Ichabod doesn't update his thread. Wasting five turns basically got him nothing expect being able to plant on a hill and unimpressive sheep in the third ring.

Edit:
Well it wasn't just the settler. lol He doesn't like Civ5 and picked liberty "for fun". This is a textbook example of people not updating while they are not having fun. And don't say that he didn't have enough time because he played in a succession game and did other things while playing this game.

I've seen FilthyRobot use liberty effectively but it's underpowered and hard to use so if you don't go for uberstrats your going to get creamed. Ichabod should have done research and stayed with Ethiopia if he wanted to take a chance with liberty--it's not fun being irrelevant for a year.

It looks like Azza and Yuri cannot keep up in tech so they look that they are going to have a bad time. Yuri can troll Ichabod but Azza is stuck hitting end turn. I think Rowain will win this (wasting five turns, having to war and picking liberty 'for fun' seems too much to overcome) but Ichabod seems to be keeping up for now.

This game would have been a much better example of people having a bad time when they are losing than Rego in PB#1 after his civ turned into an orange. We have to wait until we can react to Civ6 for this to matter though.

Well it looks like Ichabod took three days while he usually takes one and did not update his thread so I'm going to say that Rowain is kicking Ichabod's teeth in for fun. mischief He says he had to do something but I'm going for it. smile

I totally called it. smile

If Rowain takes out the capital soon as he plans the other players will concede to him. The casual nature of this game does not justify a three-way dogpile against him.

To change the topic; does anyone know what happened with Azza? I think he failed to see natural wonders in a reasonable amount of time for some reason so he effectively played a civ with nothing but Rowain's civ was pretty weak and he's winning.I don't think a little bad micro and building military would make such a difference. If I had to guess I think Azza's start other than the capital was weak.

Yuri and Ichabod are easy enough to explain due to their war and other factors. I've talk about Ichabod enough. lol And Yuri got 2v1ed.

I think that the defender gets so many advatages in this game (not nearly as bad with 100hp but still pretty bad); if you take one city you can take them all. Rowain's first capture was with Ichabod's army away so it didn't really count but this one does. Resignation is a bit away because of the geometry allowing Ichabod to stuff everything in the capital but I'm sure that Rowain is going to win this game barring some sort of drama.

I really don't have anything more to say about this game expect I'm not harsh on Ichabod because I don't like him or anything but because there was nothing else to talk about. Yuri got 2v1ed, azza fell behind in science somehow and Rowain followed the standard tradition strat then hit Ichabod while his back was turned. There might be more to say after the game but all I can see now is azza's science problem.
