Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

[Spoilers] It's time to be casual again

Sooooo sloooow...

Good news is that I'm feeling a lot better. Maybe I'll get some actual ideas to improve our situation now.

You were happy being Dreylin's neighbor ? Well think again.

Yes this is Jowy, as JOAO of Russia. JOAO. What did we do to deserve being Jowy's neighbors, TWICE ?

Now to our domestic problems.

BB is an amazing worker pump for its size. It has no good tiles beyond the three foods so I think it's a pretty good use of that city. Our third city will come t48 (Jowy's third was more than 2t ago...)

I'll chop a monument in the city to get copper soonish.

Well...at least he's Russia this time. As long as he gets into his game-long grudge match early enough, he'll never see his unique unit. Maybe if we're lucky (and cautious) that grudge will be with Dreylin instead of us.

I don't have perspective: how close is he to the sugar/furs area? Will we have to fight for those if we want them?

Sounds like a good primary use. Once we have pottery we ought to grow it enough to work a cottage or two (and at least one of those cottages should be the tile 1N of Megalodon so it can go to the capital eventually).

Also, super-huge food surplus sounds like a potential whip city, too, a bit later. Maybe something like alternating setter (mostly whipped) -> infra while regrowing -> worker (slow built) while waiting for unhappy to fade. Depends on how many workers we need, of course, and doesn't really make sense until we can get a granary in.

Eventually (like, medieval times) it looks like we can make this an awesome cottage city, and give away most of its food to neighbors.

The new city, right? I'm pretty sure a monument in BB would take us 50 turns to get copper, since we need the third ring.

I think Jowy settled in a straight line in our direction, so the fur/sugar which used to be on our side is now contested.

Agreed about BB getting cottages soon

The third city gets the monument yes

Actually, hmm. I think I would swap BB to a settler at the moment. We are only working improved tiles. We need to put up a road network and improve some tiles in city 3, but I feel like our current workers can manage that. We're going to want to grow the cap instead of going straight onto another settler, so the workers have some time to catch up before we add another task to their list.

It's true we don't get the Imperialistic bonus on food, but let's not make efficiency the only goal.

Sorry, should have checked the thread last night.

Edit: Well, if the worker is half done now, it's probably worth finishing.

I'll remember to blame you if we don't win the game wink

Here's the situation overview of our land. worker is at 29/60, will be whipped next turn. That means more overflow into a settler, which is good.

I thought I had a picture of Jowy's land and the relative position of the fur/sugar spot, but I can't find it. I'll see if I can log in again today.
