Good question...I suppose if Ruff builds 15 Spies per turn and generates enough EPs there isn't much Dreylin can do. A smart strategy might be to have 6 or 7 cities going for culture, making it much tougher to slow them all down. For Ruff, there's nothing you can do about having to run to the end of the tech tree, build a bunch of expensive projects, and twiddle your thumbs while waiting for the stupid space ship to get there smile. It should be interesting.

Is Time victory on?

Tanks do not help Dreylin win by culture. Gold helps Ruff win by space. So it sounds like a good deal for Ruff, and I think Dreylin would be stupid to take the deal.

Dreylin should be focusing on culture and using spare resources to fight MH. Gold used for buying tanks from Ruff does not constitute "spare resources".

Every turn mh lives is a turn in which Dreylin has to concentrate on war.

Once mh is finished Dreylin doesn't need anything else but to switch on the cultureslider and use his spies to prevent the space-ship from completing. And even if the game runs the full time it will be Dreylin who wins as he will have a lot more land and pop (=more points) than Ruff.

(Truth be told the really smart move of Dreylin would have been a peace-deal with mh asap with a no-spymission clause).

Yes, but Dreylin doesn't have to focus on war now either - he can focus on culture, running the culture slider and everything, and war on the side.

Of course peace would be even better but I doubt mh would be interested in just standing idly by at this point.

Which till now he has not done. Dreylin is so fixed at the idea of crushing mh that he has thrown away alot of the advantage he had over Ruff.

For now it might be too late but mh was very willing to sign peace:

Quote:So what is on the table and up for negotiations:
Game long NAP.
Disbanding or gifting of military units.
Tech trades/gifts. Can only offer MilSci at the moment.
Open borders for trades / switching to Free Market maybe
Do you need Buddhist missionaries for a cultural victory?
I get a Great Person of yet unknown profession next turn. Interested?
Resource trades:
My sole northern Fish for say Banana. Should help your Sushi.
I have spare silver and wine.
The city of Vienna.
The city of Medina.

So for me as long as Dreylin has his obseesion with mh and continues to war and war and war it is not in the best interest of Ruff to help him along.

I haven't been lurking this game religiously for a little while, but has MH turned into a Moby Dick thing for Dreylin? I can't see how MH's cities help with a cultural win.

I think so.

Dreylin turned down MH's peace offer, with the idea that he could focus on culture while mopping up MH with his "spare" units.

And that may or may not have been true. But I think he's putting a bit too much emphasis / empire resources towards the war.

But it's hard to say really since we don't know all of what he is doing

Though just having read dreylin's thread, it seems like he'll have culture in 40t or so. I couldn't figure out what ruff's timeline looks like, but 40t seems like a decent bet for Dreylin

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, I don't quite see how Ruff can launch a spaceship in that timeframe. Two qualifications:
1) I have no idea how espionage will influence things.
2) I'm most used to normal speed so my frame of reference is probably a bit off.
I have to run.
