General thoughts:
As a long time lurker of RB I hate it when games get called without a proper conclusion.
IRL I've got a fairly full plate at the moment having just gotten engaged and bought a new apartment with my fiancé etc. but I'd be willing to put in the turns to try and find a winner
(though I guess I'm also fine with getting a shared victory considering the state of the game).
In game I'd say with about 95% certainty that the winner would be either me or REM.
Those remaining 5% are taken by dtay and Gavagai (well CH), but since neither really seem to have the time/willingness to play I'm ok with solutions that pretty much disregards them.
What needs to be in place for there to be a fair race between REM and me?
Well, as long as we keep pounding each other, perhaps not all that much.
If all forces are tied up with the other party, then 3rd parties get less interesting. It doesn't matter that much if say plako offers REM an opening or dtay offers one to me, we'll have a very hard time to capitalize anyhow.
So, Always War
(between REM and me) from now on?
Well, I guess that'd be possible, but I for one would've made some different choices regarding eg. GP generation if this turns into a two player game instead of a proper ffa.
Probably in such a scenario we could pretty much ignore the other continent.
REM
might've gotten help from dtay and I
might've gotten help from Gav/Barteq, but I can live without hopelessly pondering those possibilities.
Probably the trickiest question is what to do regarding the English (Donovan/Serdoa)?
I can see a few options such as:
a) New player taking over (BGN abandoning Vikings
(->AI?) to pick up the reigns here??)
b) turn to AI, REM and me free to conquer as we please (but REM probably likely to have open borders while I'd have a hard time getting those).
c) turn to AI, declare it a demilitarized zone (I won't get any developed towns / release of cultural pressure, but have a much easier time with defense.
d) turn to AI, rule not to attack. Sorry, without amendments I can't accept this. If REM is staging inside England and I'm not locked into a peace treaty, then I need the option to pre emptily defend myself.
What if REM and I make peace?
Well that's a tricky question. Other conquests
(where we'd like decent opposition) might just start to pay off in time...
So Always Peace (between all nations) and a race to space?
Well, somehow I've got a feeling that's not really in my best interests at the moment. Ask me again in 10t and I'll consider it...
Edit: Didn't see the last few posts (starting with REM) before writing this. Not sure how much those posts changes things (at least I probably would've wanted to say some things differently). It's late here though and I've got a busy day tomorrow as well, so I'll just leave things as they stand.
