Yeah, it's not your fault. I'm just doing the standard grousing.

At least Comm isn't Vikings.

Lurkers, I could use your input:

My opening plan as IMP/ORG is to spam Settlers and Skirmishers. How badly should I crash my economy before getting Courthouses up? 20% breakeven? 0% breakeven?

20% is fine I guess? The real problem is that you definitely want currency before you are at 0% breakeven.

Founded Kumbi Saleh, with pigs to come online next turn.

Interestingly, the 2 IMP Civs are the last to found their 3rd cities: mine because of the slow opening, while Ruff hasn't founded his 3rd yet because he just built Henge.

Speaking of wonders, without stone or marble Ruff's IND significantly increases in value, as do Great Engineers. I don't care about any of the ancient and classical wonders except the Oracle and MoM, especially since I want to do a Settler-spam. Metagame-wise I think I can count on Comm and Ruff to compete for the Oracle so no one will grab a ridiculously good tech; at this point I'm just wondering if I want to join the race and try to grab CoL.

Also, I belatedly realised how to approach the lighthouse city: build a farm on the highlighted tile.

That city looks like it will take ever to grow from the 3f tile. I was thinking chop a monument first to claim the rice, working camped ivory, and get a WB from the capital for the clams? What does the rest of the map look like now?

EDIT: I would not place that city 5th. Maybe by the incense and fish so it can eventually whip galleys to colonize the islands?

I think you're pretty much right. One important thing I didn't report here: there's a barb city north and that complicates matters:

I will want a city there for lighthousable lakes, but at the moment a decent city site is to settle 1NE of wheat and pop borders to grab pigs/gold. Maybe this should be city #5.

More info is needed about the lie of the land, plus it may be well worth it to backsettle for fish/incense/horse and hit the barb city with chariots.

I think you would need promo axes at this rate. Since you need a border pop for horses, its going to be too late until they get archers. Archery on hill city fully fortified gets 6 str? Also that is dry wheat so you only get 4f.

Will they get archery so fast? The other alternative is to whip out an axe or 2 from Kumbi Saleh and send them up north. Copper should be hooked up in 7-8 turns.

T49:

Time for a fuller report after 50 turns of play. Current situation:

3 x Cities, 3 x Workers, 1 x Workboat.

Capital:

Slowbuilding a granary as it has plenty of food. It'll double whip a Settler next.

City 2:

This one just finished slowbuilding the workboat, and will next double whip a worker. It's hitting the happy cap, but furs will come online soon.

City 3:

Kumbi Saleh will probably grow onto mines and just pump military out (mostly Skrimishers)

Demos:

Any questions?

The current plan is to tech Archery-> Mysticism-> Mono/Poly -> Priesthood, and try to Oracle CoL. Getting a religion from Mono/Poly would be nice but not crucial since we will likely get Confucianism anyway.

Any idea if I can Oracle CoL with Priesthood but no Writing?
