Civ5 PBEM 5 Organizing Thread

HAK, shall I post a request for a sub or are you ok to keep playing? Noted that we will have a break in the second half of March if you'd rather keep playing

May as well post to see if anyone is willing to take over.  I've been playing the turns just to play them, but I don't have any direction and don't really have much motivation for them at the moment.

With HAK's holiday coming up and no one stepping up to take over his civ, I would like to ask for everyone's opinion on calling the game. I don't particularly want to concede, but it's hard to ignore the fact that I did not have military success I hoped for, and Ichabod is in a very strong position

So...

Ichabod - in your own honest opinion, what's your chance of winning the game at the moment?
Nic - do you want to keep playing? will your interest not be completely killed by the 10-day break in the near future?
HAK, Pindicator - I assume you're ok with a concession, but do speak up if you have objections

I don't want the game to end this way, in a "forced concession". I already had a favourable position in another game that ended due to slow turn pace and it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth, so I don't want to repeat that.

Regarding your question, I think my chances of winning are very high. But I don't know much about late game Civ 5, so there's likely a lot of things I could be overlooking. I think it's more relevant to ask what the other players think about their chances of winning, rather than what I think.

I can't really force anyone to keep playing, nor am I going to try it. But I'd like if this game could reach a proper conclusion, rather than end up like this.

I would also prefer to play it out, I'm just worried that the turn pace slowed down lately, and a 10 day break can kill it completely. But if other are willing to come back after the break and give the game a proper conclusion, I'm all for it!

(obviously the break is still a week away, I'm just trying to look into the future a little, and make sure we reach the decision before it, even if a lengthy discussion is needed)

Just a thought, but if Pindicator wants to retire to AI, I really think there's no harm for the game in doing it. Without getting into too much of gameplay commentary, there's not much incentive for me to finish his Civ, but there's also very little chance for him to give me trouble. It's a common situation in Civ 5, I fear, and the NQ multiplayer group has a vote for a player that has become irrelevant to be able to quit the game. Perhaps it's more relevant for live MP gameplay, but I think it also applies here. In the current situation, I strongly feel Pindicator's civ is irrelevant.

In Civ 4, capturing the last opponent cities is a very desirable move, if at all possible. In Civ 5, a lot of the times, it just isn't profitable (rather, it would be detrimental), so we get these situations of a very small civ stuck forever in the same place.

If Pindicator wants to keep playing, no problem. But since we are discussing the game state, I feel it's appropriate to bring this topic, since I have had this in mind for some time already.

I'll give you another chance to do that as I'm thinking of running an always war Civ5 game after this one (assuming there's enough interest of course)

With Ichabod's preference to play this one out and no strong argument against that, I think we keep playing

Full disclosure, i posted to Ichabod's thread thinking it was the tech thread. I skimmed the last two posts which were regarding turn pace, confirming in my mind i was in the tech thread.
