Yuris125 and a fancy headdress. Aztecs in Civ6 PBEM

I´m also interested to hear what is going on in the land of Aztec empire.

Yeah... things happened in the world smile but not in Aztec lands. We were being peaceful people building industrial districts in all cities. Until this turn

When teh declared on Sulla, and I had all these Jags still in the area (simply because it didn't make sense for them to be anywhere else), I suspected there was going to be an opportunity. I waited a couple of extra turns to make sure as many teh's units as possible were tied up in an attack on Sulla's city, and....

Yeah, that was easy so far. Frankfurt should be mine, then I'll see if I can something about Mainz. Unlikely, but depends how well teh's war is going. Considering he's attacking a city with walls and strength of 38, I expect not very well. So perhaps

Speaking of walls, I'm very surprised he didn't build anything defensive in his aggressively planted city. The problem with defending it just with units is obvious from the scenario above - they may be urgently needed elsewhere

Although he may have started building Walls, just couldn't finish it, and it can't be goldrushed

The core, as I said, is building districts

I'm hoping to have them done by the time I finish Stirrups, which is a slow research, but getting Knights earlier than other players, with productions base to build them relatively quickly, should give me more opportunities

Well, this isn't going to be quite as easy

teh probably can reclaim the city. He can get shots with all 4 Archers, and while 27 strength is a lot, I don't think it's enough to withstand 5 attacks (and there's penalty for the city being damaged). Nevertheless I decided to keep it - razing seemed to achieve nothing except freeing up this territory for Sulla to settler. And I don't want that even more than I don't want teh to reclaim the city

Any thoughts about the attack thus far?

Now that the die is cast, I was actually wondering why you decided to attack teh vs. attacking Stockholm/TheArchduke/anyone else? This particularly because you have acknowledged that teh can easily reclaim the city with 4 archers, so you can't really keep any gains that you have made. Do you think you made a mistake, or is there something else that you intended to go for?

teh's city was the most exposed. I saw an opening and expected him to be down on units from his attack on Sulla, which didn't seem to be going well

Was it a mistake? Maybe. Probably not. Aztec game plan includes opportunistic moves like this. I don't have a problem with losing a few units and achieving nothing if that's what happens

Frankfurt stayed under my control by the way. I moved units out to not lose them when teh recaptures it and be in position to re-recapture

Pretty much as expected, teh recaptured the city, I captured it again. As a bonus, the Warrior he used to recapture it got converted into a Builder. That's 4 for 4 now. And teh only has Archers in the area so can't recapture again without bringing another melee unit (the problem of an Archer-only army)

Just for the hell of it, teh captured the city again, and I recaptured it again, netting yet another Builder. I wonder if the chance of conversion from Jaguar kills is actually 100%?

4 turns away from Stirrups. Soon my Knights shall rule them all

Are you intending to take out teh once you reach knights?

That's the initial plan. He's closest to me, has suffered losses, and is at war with Sulla as well, so I would like to take his cities before Sulla does. Plus I don't think getting him to cede cities will be easy if I don't take him out, and Frankfurt, which is now at size 1, would be fairly useful as an occupied city
