I would ban Rome as well, it's too much and given an already unbalanced map it gives too high a chance of somebody just running away in the first 50 turns.

We need a map checker too.

@Adrienier: I am still looking for a not so dead dedlurker so we can make sure that my turns are played in case I might end up without internet. Would you like to help me out?

Given that we have 5 players, wouldn't it be better to cull the civ list manually down to 15, rather than rely on RNG? I would drop Spain, Norway and Rome as forming the tails of the power distribution.

Which would form nice groups of three, a meaningful choice almost whatever the mix. As for the pick method, I'm fully on-board with PB13-style of choose one from three randomly generated.

Agree with bacchus about the ban-list. Everything else (including huts) looks good to me although I don't really care much about the settings .

Timezone CEST (GMT +2)
Preferred playtime ( in GMT ) 5pm - 9pm*.
On weekends morning playtime is possible.

*) Turns that reach me past 8:30 pm (GMT) might not get played.

Post updated, we are apparently so far all in Europe xD

I am open for the randomness given by leaving randomizing 6 CIV groups and not using one by chance, so I vote against terminating Spain, Rome and Norway. Let us see what Ichabod and Suboptimal have to say about that and then there will be a final decision.

To be honest, I believe Spain is at the same level or even a bit stronger than India, Norway might be feasible on Archipelago maps, but we probably wont play one.

I will be happy to roll a map for your game, assuming everyone is OK with something along the lines of PBEM2 levels of randomness / fairness.

I obviously am not unbiased, but even I would say PBEM2 is almost entirely good and fun.

City states in PBEM2 are grossly skewed, right on the edge of being unfun
